Recap

The previously on segment focuses on everything I've loved about The Americans Season 6. This episode is going to be epic.

Elizabeth is watching over Nesterenko, Philip drops a message for Oleg and Stan is at the office doing a search on Jennings, Elizabeth.

Searching for Philip Jennings finds a black male, 23, who committed arson. Stan searches next for Dupont Circle Travel. Nothing comes up on his neighbors.

Elizabeth grabs her cigarettes and is on the move.

I can't believe there will only be one more time this opening is associated with a new episode of The Americans.

Philip is at the travel agency when Stan pops in for a meeting. Philip introduces him around and tries to sell Stan on working with the FBI and it makes for an awkward moment.

Stan notices Elizabeth isn't in the office. Philip says they're fighting. Stan also offers a loan to Philip so they could get back on their feet. Philip declines the offer.

Now that Stan is looking into the Jennings, Elizabeth's "disguise" seems terribly inadequate.

While watching over the fellow, she thinks back to her childhood. It's just a flash.

Oleg walks his route and checks for messages.

Stan calls Father Tim. Tim is taken aback. He doesn't spill on the Jennings, but he is hesitant.

Elizabeth recalls picking up messages in the street as a young woman.

She came across a man on a motorcycle who had apparently crashed with a policeman on a horse. The motorcycle rider asked for help. She turned and walked in the other direction. Elizabeth thinks of it now with a look of sadness on her face.

Stan heads down to see Aderholt. He wants ten minutes for a beer. Maybe after work. Lunch right now will work for Aderholt.

Stan is wondering if Renee working with them is the right thing.

Stan then reveals to Aderholt all that he has been holding inside about Elizabeth and Philip.

Aderholt thinks Stan is everything Stan purports himself to be starting with crazy.

The FBI thought Oleg "pulled himself into the black" for a few seconds and for that they checked him out. If he had anything on him, they needed to bring him in.

Even in training, you're supposed to act like you're in America young Elizabeth told her report. For that, she was told, "You don't leave a comrade to die on the street in Moscow."

Stan wants Oleg to talk to him. He wants to know what is so important that it's worth throwing away his life. Stan wants to blame Oleg for all of the violence that has occurred since he arrived in town.

He wants to know what the dead drop says and who sent it. I want Oleg to tell him. I want Oleg to share that he's trying to keep Gorbachev in power to make their lives better! Oh, this is horrible.

What's-her-name that hates Oleg was about to kill the guy Elizabeth was watching, and Elizabeth shot her before she got her chance.

Oleg tells Stan and Stan doesn't react in the right way. Damn him! Stan then shows him a picture of the Jennings. Oleg shakes his head.

Oleg tries to get Stan to understand that it does matter who their leader is and that's why he risked everything to be there. Why can't he get it through his thick head?

Elizabeth tells Claudia she stopped the death of Nesterenko. She also contacted Gorbachev's people. It's over. Claudia pulls the "I had so much faith in you" shtick. She makes it seem as if her way is the only way and the Russian people must be wrong.

Philip meets with Father Andre only to learn Father Victor is spilling his guts to the FBI today. Philip runs like hell and the FBI is chasing him. SUSPECT IS ON THE MOVE!! SUSPECT IS ON THE MOVE!!

Philip makes it to a cab.

Paige visits mom to tell her about her boyfriend Brian who was futzing around with an older woman who messed with his life and now he's quitting school and going home. She wants to know if it was Elizabeth. Elizabeth says it wasn't her. And if she lies to her now after everything, she will never forgive her.

Paige tells her mother she's a whore. So much for committing to the business.

Philip calls Elizabeth and talks in code. She grabs everything they need to escape.

The Americans Season 6 Episode 9 Quotes

Aderholt: You OK?
Stan: Yeah.
Aderholt: What's goin' on?
Stan: I know this sounds crazy, but I can't get this out of my head. You know Philip and Elizabeth? When I first met them, you know I was working on the Debenschmidt thing. Philip and Elizabeth drove the same make and model of car that was seen near where he was kidnapped. Different license but, I know. It's stupid, right? I know. I forgot about it after that. But the way she rushed out at Thanksgiving and he left the next day right when everything was going down in Chicago? They left their kid here alone. Who does that? Over Thanksgiving?

Stan: Is there anything I should know about the Jennings, as an FBI agent? Anything about them that concerns you?
Father Tim: Well, I'm not sure what you're looking for, but I've always been impressed with them. Paige is a very dedicated and thoughtful young woman. Always so helpful with the church. Philip and Elizabeth weren't members of the church, but I know they love Paige.
Stan: So nothing else.
Father Tim: Not really?
