Damon compels Ric to get the ascendant from Jo and it works. Liv agrees to do the spell and send them back to find Bonnie. They drink Liv's blood and she also has a bottle for Bonnie to drink, that will link Liv to them. Damon and Elena make it over and find Bonnie, who will just make it home with a half hour to spare.

Unfortunately Kai is already in present day since he's had his own ascendant this whole time. He arrives at Whitmore and attacks Liv in the bar. Tyler saves her and forces her to pull Damon and Elena out early, much to their dismay. Bonnie is still stuck alone in 1994.

Damon knocks Kai into Mystic Falls during a fight. Only Kai doesn't need magic to still be a psycho killer. Plus, there are no vampires allowed in Mystic Falls to save everyone. Kai later meets up with Tyler and tells him that he actually wants to save Liv, not hurt her. Will Tyler make a deal with him?

Meanwhile, Stefan calls Sarah out on being a fake, which she is. Enzo snaps her neck in front of Matt. Matt teams up with Jeremy and vows to kill Enzo.
