Liv and Will drive through the desert, as flashbacks reveal a young Liv hearing her parents fight, walking in on her father cheating, and meeting Will in a club.

Nine months earlier, Liv and Will move into a New York City apartment and later attend a party thrown by Will’s new job.

While Will is away on business, Liv prepares for their first Christmas in New York. When he arrives home, Liv sees a text message from a colleague on Will’s phone and opens it. The text is revealed to be sexual in nature.

Liv confronts Will, who denies it at first before admitting he spent the night once with a girl named Emily and changed her name in his phone. Liv then kicks him out.

Liv spends time commiserating with her friend, Ash and tells her that her worst fear is ending up like her mother.

Liv destroys the apartment and burns Will’s clothes before he arrives home later. He asks her to go on the road trip they originally intended to go on for their honeymoon through Arizona and Vegas, which she agrees to.

Flashing back to the trip, Liv and Will stop for lunch, and she tells him she’s taking him to a surprise location.

Three weeks earlier, Liz is planning the trip, and she opens up Will’s computer to get his lifeguarding certificate. While in his email, she sees various messages from a woman and a video of the two having sex, in which he tells her he’s willing to leave Liv.

Back on the road trip, Liv takes Will to a cliff, even though he fears heights. And while it appears she may push him over, they’re interrupted by a nearby woman asking for help.

While white water rafting, Liv cuts the straps in the boat for Will’s feet, and he goes overboard as they make their way down the river. Liv helps him back into the boat but falls over herself, and Will saves her.

After dinner that night, the two are making out before they’re interrupted by the phone in their room. Will goes to the lobby to take the call, and Liv follows, overhearing him tell Cara that he’s thinking of her and wishing she was with him.

Once Will returns to the room, the two have sex.
