Recap

Young Beth is looking at a positive pregnancy test. She's bereft. She wipes her eyes and heads out to see Jamie. She needs a favor. She needs his help. He sees her crying. She says she's in trouble.

Jamie is driving when he asks her who the father is, and she says it's none of his business. He disagrees but doesn't press further.

As they drive up to the clinic, she grabs his hand. He offers to go inside and figure this out.

He's taken her to a Reservation clinic, but the woman says take her to the Planned Parenthood in Billings. He says he can't because of his name. She warns him that it means sterilization. Jamie decides to proceed without telling Beth.

And now we know why he's not mentioned the bun he's got in the oven.

Afterward, Beth goes to see Rip. He didn't know where she was. He thought it was just a test. She says it was negative. Then why do you look so sad, he wonders. That's when she says they shouldn't do this anymore.

Presently, Beth wakes up with a start. She goes outside, but Rip follows. He offers to talk, but she's not up for it. He sits down beside her, instead, asking her to tell him anyway.

Jamie is getting sworn in to his new position. He's practically grinning, taking the oath. John wants him to say the last part again. And that he will discharge the duties of his office, so help him God.

NOW Jamie is grinning. It's as if John is giving Jamie away at a wedding. He's all yours now, John tells Lynelle.

Man drives near some horses in a field. He pulls a piece of paper from his pocket, looks at it, and blows his brains out.

It was Boyd Nelson. Kayce is called to action, even if he doesn't know what it has to do with his office.

The man had a Notice of Intent to Foreclose. Kayce wants to round up the horses and sell them in Billings. He wants to give the man's two children a fighting chance. Boyd was the Sheriff's cousin, so he will look away, but if the bank finds out, Kayce is in trouble.

They're closing up camp, but Monica wants their tent left standing. Take things the city sucks ass, and Monica knows where he's getting the language when Teeter opens her mouth.

John arrives home just as another vehicle is pulling up. It's Rainwater. It's time to talk about their mutual problem.

John wonders why he's worried about an airport near his casino. Rainwater wants to give the corporation a dozen things that takes time because that's the one thing that the corporations do not have. Rainwater wants Beth and Angela to meet and put their heads together. Who knows what mischief they'll come up with? John warns that this genie doesn't go back in the bottle. Neither does his, Rainwater says.

Roarke is buying stock, pleased with himself as he says take that you little redhead shit.

Roarke's happiness is short-lived. Another point?? Hell breaks loose.

Monica asks Lloyd to watch their language, but then Tate tells a knock-knock joke. Europe. Lloyd is pleased Tate is laughing. You're either born a willow, or you're born an oak. That's all there is to it.

Riding through the Yellowstone, Rip, Ryan, and Colby find bison. And two men. When Rip suggests the man tell his boy to watch the bass in his voice, the boy jumps Rip, and Rip pounds him right in the face while daddy pulls a gun. Ryan jumps into action. Wade Morrow is the man. He doesn't have kind feelings for John Dutton.

Ryan needs proof that those buffalo are brucellosis-free. Colby says the buffalo will tear the fence to pieces. Rip says that's why they're there.

Beth doesn't like fishing. Of all the shit a trout has to go through during a day, it also has to wonder if every bug has a hook in it because he thinks it's fun to wrestle a fish.

Roarke thinks they don't feel pain. Beth overrules. It turns out, Roarke doesn't like the taste. THAT, Beth respects.

Roarke says what she's doing makes them want to hurt her back. No one who tried that before is alive. Will she hire a hitman?

Roarke tries to talk about money and legacy, with only one that stands the test of time. Generational wealth. She agrees on all fronts, but John has different ideas, and she'll fight to the death for her dad.

Kayce checks in with John after his first day. He's got the bad news. The man was a horse breeder. Boyd was an angry, angry guy, John says. Kayce shares his plan. If the family is worth doin', then Kayce would like to do it. John says to do what's best for the people because that's the job. The bank isn't his problem. But it's not his decision to make. Kayce will need his help. Once you make the decision, John says, he'll do whatever Kayce wants.

They use the fuck-it approach to rounding up the horses.

Works pretty well.

Jamie calls Randy with his new title. Are there any unresolved issues that need resolving? Nope.

The guy sighs and laughs when he hears Kayce is the new livestock commissioner. Jamie says he just willed it to happen and to let him know if he can will anything for Randy.

The guy at the auction house says he can sell 300 in a package with a phone call. He visits the family, who is feeling rough.

The woman envelops him in a hug. He only got $16k. Since she's not spending a dime on that coward. She's the cowboys and dreamers gal.

Mia and her friend, Laramie, take Jimmy home and pop open the wrangler's beers and begin dancin'. Colby is startin' to crush on Teeter.

Rip is highly annoyed. Beth stops her car in the street.

Rip storms into the bunkhouse and finds Beth dancing. He smiles. I shoulda known it was you, he says, pulling her in for a kiss.

John enjoys the activity. They're cuttin' loose, he says. They had one helluva day, and now it sounds like they're gonna have one helluva night.

John is proud of Kayce.

Beth: I made two decisions in my life based on fear, and they cost me everything.
Rip: [kisses her forehead] Hey, not everything.

Listen, you don't want to do this here. A requirement of patients receiving an abortion at this clinic is sterilization.
