Recap

Liza and Charles are getting comfortable in their relationship.

Since they are still keeping things on the down-low, they opt to hang out at his apartment while Pauline has the kids.

She reads some manuscripts while he attempts to cook dinner. They are made for each other.

The next day at the office, Charles suggests they go to this low-key spot on the Upper East Side where no one will find them.

Unfortunately, they run right into Redmond, an agent that's shopping around the book Kelsey just turned down.

In a panic, Charles says the dimly-lit restaurant is where he comes to read new material.

Liza reaches into her bag and pulls out the only manuscript she has -- the one Kelsey rejected.

Redmond figures it out: Liza believes in the book and wants Charles to reconsider.

Since their cover is blown, Liza heads home for the night while Charles makes good on the lie and reads the manuscript.

The next day, Redmond tells Kelsey that Charles bought it which doesn't sit well with her.

When she confronts Liza about how Charles even got it, she comes clean about their "super new" relationship.

Kelsey feels betrayed by her partner and tells her that her dating the boss is a "big problem for her."

But no time to deal with that now since they are hearing a pitch from social media sensation Quinn.

Kelsey relates to her pitch about "being an independent woman and looking out for yourself."

Both ladies are taking the fight to heart.

Kelsey is being honored with the Maverick Award at Glamour's Women of the Year that night. Before she accepts her award, Liza tells Kelsey that she is at a crossroads because she loves two people.

However, acknowledging that Kelsey has always had her back, Liza tells her if she was forced to make a choice between her and Charles, she would choose her.

She also tells her that she's been upholding the secret about her age so that their company would succeed.

Kelsey takes what Liza says to heart and during her acceptance speech, admits that she couldn't have done any of this without her partner in crime, Liza, who should be standing right next to her on the stage.

After Kelsey threatens Charles with the newfound information about his relationship, he agrees to give her the money to buy Quinn's book.

He makes it clear that he's only doing it because he believes in her judgment and not because she knows about him and Liza. He also tells her never to use his personal life against him.

Later in the evening, Charles tells Liza that he would love to keep seeing her but they have to be discreet because too much is on the line.

Liza agrees and they sneak in a romantic kiss.

Meanwhile, Lauren is trying to secure new clients and approaches Diana in hopes of being her publicist.

Though Diana "likes her," she tells Lauren she doesn't "offer much," but that all changes when Lauren recognizes Enzo from a porn she watched years ago.

She knows the "right thing" is to tell Diana she's dating a former pornstar.

Diana doesn't believe her but when she hears his signature "honk" which happens when he's reached his peak, she knows it's true.

Lauren scrapes the internet of all copies and leaves the only one with Diana who is grateful and says she'll "call her."

"I know you will," Lauren tells her.

Diana confronts Enzo about his colorful past and he explains that he needed to make some money.

He urges her not to judge him based on what he did back in the day and she agrees not to.

Younger Season 5 Episode 9 Quotes

You have the "it" factor. That's why I wanted to meet with you. What Grace Coddington was to Vogue, Diana Trout could be to Empirical.

Lauren

Diana: That must have been good.
Enzo: It as.
Diana: I can always tell.
Enzo: Yeah?
Diana: Mhm. You make this little honk. Actually, it's not little, it's pretty big but don't worry, these pre-war buildings have very thick walls.
