Zzzzz: John Mayer Variety Show in the Works

He is best known as a singer-songwriter who dates hot actresses, and an unquestioned Grade A Douchebag. But he is apparently a douchebag intent on building his resume, as CBS president Nina Tassler recently told reporters that John Mayer's rumored variety show is a go.

According to E! Online, Tassler said Mayer lobbied hard: "It'll be a music variety sketch show, and it's being developed now. It was his idea; we didn't reach out to him."

SIDE NOTE: Friday Night Lights barely stays on the air (and has to go to stupid DirecTV to do so), but they give this guy air time. Not a good sign for TV. Or humanity.

Planned for later this season, the John Mayer program will initially be presented as a special, with possibility of a full-series pickup. Cross your fingers, people. Please.

So why TV for the music star? John told E! at the Grammy nominations, "I want to return talent to television... I want a show that rewards true douchebaggery talent."
