Laura Leighton: Returning to Melrose Place!

Heather Locklear will not reprise her role as Amanda Woodward on the upcoming Melrose Place remake.

But the apartment complex will still welcome back one of the original show's classic bitches.

Producers of the pilot have confirmed that Laura Leighton has signed on as Sydney, the beloved scheming sister of Jane Mancini.

The husband-stealing waitress - who dabbled in both stripping and prostitution - was thought to have died in a car accident in Melrose Place's fifth season finale. But it shouldn't be too difficult to come up with a ridiculous way for her to have survived, bitchiness intact.

Reportedly, Sydney will be the landlord of the revamped complex.

She'll be in charge of a cast of characters played by Shaun Sipos, Michael Rady, Jessica Lucas, Katie Cassidy, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, Colin Egglesfield and Stephanie Jacobson.
