Rob Lowe: Confirmed for Parks and Recreation

at .

Rob Lowe left The West Wing years ago because he wasn't happy as one cog in an ensemble drama.

He then signed on for Brothers & Sisters, but ABC announced his departure from the series this season, allegedly for similar reasons (the show was looking to cut its budget and he was happy to exit, due to his diminished role, sources say).

Therefore, it should be easy to understand why we're skeptical over the following piece of unexpected casting news:

Insiders confirm to Michael Auslello that Lowe is nearing a deal to join the cast of Parks and Recreation. More than just another ensemble, this series is based around another character entirely.

Departing Star

That said, if Lowe can get past his ego, the sitcom would be ideal for the actor. It would showcase a funny side that clearly exists, as fans of The West Wing can attest to.

Reportedly, Lowe would join Parks and Recreation some time in the spring and possibly extend his role into next season. Think this is a good match?

** UPDATE: Parks creator Michael Schur has confirmed this news to Fancast.com: “He will be coming in at the second-to-last episode of the season. And he’ll be with us for a number of episodes stretching into Season 3."

Parks & Rec Quotes

Leslie: I know you're not gay.
Tom: No, I'm not.
Leslie: But you're effeminate.
Tom: What?
Leslie: Well, you're wearing a peach shirt with a coiled snake on it.
Tom: That's because it was featured in Details magazine, and it's awesome.

Look, Tammy and I don't work. We are oil and water. Or oil and TNT and C4 and a detonator and a butane torch.
