Roger Bart to Join White House Staff on The Event

Roger Bart will soon be conferring closely with the President. No, not that President.
The actor - best known for his recurring role of George Williams on Desperate Housewives in 2005-2006 - has been cast on The Event as Chief of Staff to Blair Underwood's President Martinez. He'll debut when the show returns to NBC in February.
Elsewhere, Underwood hinted that the recently-cast Virginia Madsen will play a character based on Sarah Palin. Joked the actor of Madsen's recurring role:
"She plays a mother from Alaska, who becomes a Senator. So she's a political force from Alaska. Attractive woman. Housewife. From Alaska."
