The Secret Life of the American Teenager Review: Canned Heat

at .

Amy's crankiness has been a focal point on this season of The Secret Life of the American Teenager. On "The Beach Is Back," the moody streak continued even after Amy discovered she wasn't pregnant.

Leave it to Ricky, who has done a lot of maturing over these past few seasons, to hone in on what it is that's really under Amy's skin.

Amy's Upset

Ricky realizes that the last time Amy was a teenager was that first night at band camp when they had sex. She made an adult decision at 15 years old that she wasn't ready for and thus came an adult consequence. Amy had to grow up very quickly and even though she has accepted the responsibilities, there are certainly times you can tell she just wants to bust loose and be a kid.

His idea to take her back to the spot they first met to have an honest conversation was great. He's right that you can't change the past, but you can change how you approach stuff in the future.

I have to agree with Lauren, though, that Amy's attitude sucks and it's contagious. Nobody wants to be around a Debbie Downer all the time. Especially Lauren, who needs some cheering up this summer.

It's nice to see someone on this show maturing for a change. I'm proud of Lauren for deciding to let go of her anger towards Jesse and Lauren because it's NOT an easy thing to do. However, I also agree with her decision to honestly say she doesn't think she can take her back as a best friend. Some betrayal just changes the fabric of a friendship.

Grace was acting pretty childish but I also think having a sibling sprung on you is probably pretty crazy. I guess the important thing to remember is that it's not like Jacob chose to be born to an adulterer. I'll go easy on her in this case, but she needs to stop teasing Jack the way she does. Walking around in your bra because you can't find the thermostat? Please, like I believe that.

Jack needs new friends, stat. Ben also needs better taste in girls, because I'm still really not feeling Dylan or her family. Sorry to say, but no. I'm glad Leo is laying down the law in the best way he can see fit. I'm not really sure what Dylan and her friends consider "poor clothes" to be, considering they are cheesy as hell and have no style. Then again lots of girls are shallow and petty, especially in high school.

Also, it is nearly impossible to look good in a heat wave! Every seemed to be affected negatively by the weather. Everyone except for Ricky. who must be doing some sort of yoga and meditation on the sly to put up with everything with a smile this season.

What did everyone think of this week's Secret Life? Is George obsessed with the idea of Anne being gay? Should Kathleen have handled things with her kids differently? Will Ricky and Amy work things out? Hit the comments and don't forget to check out this week's The Secret Life of the American Teenager quotes!
