The mind of Carrie Matheson. It can be a scary, confusing place.

And, as we head into Homeland Season 2, it will be the focus of this Emmy-nominated Showtime drama. How much does Carrie remember about Brody and the events that concluded Season 1? What sort of effect will shock therapy have on her already-unstable brain?

The latest Homeland trailer forces us to wonder about these answers, while hinting that Claire Danes' ex-CIA agent won't be in the dark entirely when the series picks back up on September 30. Watch now:

Earlier this month at Comic-Con, a sneak preview of the season ahead teased Carrie's new position at professor; her mission to Beirut; and Brody's position as a Congressman.

Homeland Quotes

CARRIE: The only way to bring down Dar is by prosecuting the breach in the Berlin station under the Espionage Act.
SAUL: The breach itself was me. I was in the middle of it. I was the one involved with a Russian spy. […] Everything I’ve done. My entire career will be wiped out. All anyone will remember is that.
CARRIE: Keane is not ungrateful; she promised you a pardon.
SAUL: What about the Agency?
CARRIE: The Agency has survived worse.
SAUL: Not when the president wants it gone, which Keane does. You’re aware of that, right?
CARRIE: Maybe you shouldn’t have been fucking a Russian mole.
SAUL: Well, coming from someone who fucked a guy in a suicide vest, that means a lot.

MAX: Listen to me, Carrie. Somebody is paying O’Keefe a shitload of money to build a massive domestic propaganda machine. And if this somebody is DOD, or NSA, or Dar Adal, he’s breaking about ten federal laws. Plus, this isn’t just about fake news and manipulating public opinion, it’s about stifling dissent.
CARRIE: If this is Dar Adal, I’m about to bring the roof down on his head.
