Gracepoint Season 1 Episode 3 Review: Episode 3

at .

So did you see that one coming or were you convinced Mark Solano was somehow involved in Danny's murder?

Seriously, if the killer was revealed in Gracepoint Season 1 Episode 3 what's the point of the rest of the season?

Mark was incredibly foolish covering up his affair during his son's murder investigation. If I were Carver, I still wouldn't trust a word that guy says.

Talking to Tom - Gracepoint

Carver mentioned at the top that the cliff near the hut was a perfectly fine place from which to toss a body. He's absolutely right, so why did the killer drag Danny's body into a boat and deposit it at the opposite end of the beach? Can he/she be connected to the little hut?

Ellie is definitely letting her emotions get the better of her. Why wouldn't she trust the evidence? Everyone is a suspect until proven otherwise. Good thing she wasn't given the promotion. She's nowhere near as prepared as Carver.

Mark texts his apprentice Vincent for an alibi, but we learn from his mother he was home all night. Guess that means we can scratch Vincent off our list. Dang, there goes my #1 suspect. His mother suffers from dementia though, so can she really be trusted?

Also, there appeared to be blood stains in his truck. Hey perhaps Vincent is not off the hook yet after all.

When Mark is asked if he's ever been to the little hut, he doesn't hesitate confirming he was there for a job. Since his blood was found there, does that mean the grouchy old trailer park lady with the dog lied? Don't forget she had Danny's skateboard in her closet. I wonder if she's protecting the real killer.

Mark is also questioned about the blood on his boat and confirms it was Danny's. He gashed his foot on a fishing trip. Confusing stuff because Mark constantly mixed the truth with his lies.

Carver: Why are you lying about where you were Thursday night?
Mark: How is keeping me here helping you find Danny's killer?
Carver: We can't rule you out until you tell us where you were.
Mark: Where I was doesn't matter.

Mark's stupidity got him arrested, I don't sympathize with him one bit. His priorities were totally screwed up. What's more important an affair or finding the man that murdered your son? Dude come on.

Ellie's son, Tom, is also brought in for questioning. This was the nicest Carver has behaved so far on this show right? Wasn't it odd that Tom's father didn't seem to want him talking about Danny's Dad?

Is it true that Mark hit his son, or were Tom's answers rehearsed? He's got secrets too remember. I'm still curious about what was on Tom's computer and why he deleted all Danny's text messages. What does Ellie's son know exactly?

Pete breaks the news to Beth that Mark was arrested. It's understandable she now saw Pete as a spy, but if the family's done nothing wrong they have nothing to worry about. Of course, with Mark lying and Chloe keeping secrets about the cocaine it makes them look bad.

Beth is feeling restless and takes a walk. What do you make of the clairvoyant Raymond?

Danny wants you to know that he's okay. He's not in pain. He says he was on a boat. And he says don't look for who killed him because he knew this person well. And he doesn't want you to be upset. That's all.

Raymond

One thing's for certain, I looked at the two phone numbers carefully. The one on Raymond's note was 707-555-0163 and the evidence from Danny's jacket showed 707-555-0109. Not the same phone number at all, though I'm sure that clue is there to mislead us. It's too soon to know if Raymond is innocent, but he's sticking his nose where it doesn't belong. I think Carver and Miller will inevitably come after him.

I will admit it surprised me that Chloe texted Gemma Fisher and asked her to come forward. How did she know about her father's affair?

Carver was pissed wasn't he? Can you blame him? 48 valuable hours wasted because the victims father refused to own up to his extramarital affair. He claims it was a one time deal but then why go see Gemma and kiss her in public? I'm glad Beth caught him, this guy is a total idiot.

The conversation between Carver and his doctor was interesting. Is his condition psychological or physical, like a heart condition? Does this have anything to do with the Rosemont case we keep hearing about?

Speaking of Rosemont, Renee told Carver that Nina would have turned 8 but thanks to him her mother was denied justice. We definitely need more details about all this.
