The opening installment of this new CW series placed Gina Rodriguez in the well-deserved spotlight, as that young actress is the deal deal.

We met her as the character of Jane Villanueva on Jane the Virgin Season 1 Episode 1, a future teacher who works at a Miami hotel and who has a very understanding fiance named Michael:

He's supportive of her decision to save sex until marriage.

But Jane's life gets thrown for the most unexpected of loops when a doctor tells her she's... pregnant?!? Yup. Jane has been accidentally artificially inseminated with a specimen meant for someone else. Don't you just hate it when this happens?!?

It sounds like a crazy concept, but the show pulls it off in funny, emotional, impressive fashion.
