Grey's Anatomy Round Table: When is it Time to Panic?

at .

We're back for another Grey's Anatomy Round Table!

On Grey's Anatomy Season 11 Episode 20, a plane crash brought back bad memories for the doctors, while Derek's disappearance had Meredith worried. By the end, we were left with a major cliffhanger that has us wondering: is Derek going to be okay?

Needless to say, "One Flight Down" gave TV Fanatic writers Stacy Glanzman, Mary Kate Venedam, Amanda Steinmetz, and Ashley Bissette Sumerel plenty to discuss this week. Won't you join them?

What was your reaction to the final scene when Meredith sees the lights outside her window?

Stacy: Honestly, I had no idea what to make of that. I couldn't really think of a scenario in which cops would come to her house unless they found his dead body somewhere, but that is obviously not the case. From the promos, it looks like he's helping victims of a car accident, but then why are the police at her house?

Mary Kate: I was mostly thinking that they couldn't *actually* kill off Derek. I'm hoping Derek is just in the car, but I'm nervous for what is to come on the next episode.

Amanda: All I have to say is that Derek better be in that car! If they kill off Derek, I will truly be shocked and very upset.

Ashley: I cursed out loud! I don't know what to think, either, but I can't stop thinking about the dream Meredith had early in their relationship where he died in an accident. I hope they don't kill him off either, and it could be that the cops just brought him home. Either way, I'm scared!

What did you think about the way Grey's Anatomy handled the memories of the plane crash?

Stacy: I loved seeing the flashbacks and watching Meredith and Arizona cling to each other in the supply room. We don't really get to see the two of them lean on each other like that. I thought they handled it all really well.

Mary Kate: I thought they handled it well. Even as a fan, it was a tad emotional to see Meredith and Arizona relive everything that happened. Even the little things, like Arizona screaming, Meredith looking for Derek. There was a lot to remember. I loved the scene of Meredith and Arizona in the supply closet.

Amanda: I thought the use of the clips was great. That was the most traumatic moment in their lives, so it's totally believable those memories would resurface.

Ashley: I think it was really well done. I like that we were reminded of something that was so life-changing for the characters, and I liked how Meredith and Arizona stuck together. The flashbacks nearly brought on tears. So intense!

What are your thoughts on Amelia and Owen at this point?

Stacy: I am not at all invested in this relationship. At first I was mostly indifferent, but now they're starting to annoy me.

Mary Kate: I'm still rooting for them. I feel so bad for Owen because all he wants is a stable relationship, and he thought he could have it with Amelia. I'm hoping Amelia will come around and I really hope so.

Amanda: I think there is a lot of unnecessary drama coming from Amelia, and Owen needs someone stable and ready for commitment. However, I still think Amelia could be that woman for him, so she needs to get it together.

Ashley: I'm completely frustrated with these two. I think they could be a great couple, but this going round and round is driving me crazy. I hope they'll get together for real before the end of the season.

Was there anything that disappointed you about "One Flight Down?"

Stacy: Yes, where was Jackson? Nothing on him missing his mentor while saving new victims of a plane crash? That was really disappointing to me.

Mary Kate: This was one of my favorite episodes from this season. I liked Stephanie with the patient and the first date, Richard realizing how much the hospital means to him, and even the throwback to the plane crash memories. There wasn't anything in particular that I was disappointed with, well, except for no Jackson. Where was he??

Amanda: I think we are all on the same page here. I kept wondering where Jackson was throughout the episode. Other than that, this was a great episode.

Ashley: Ditto. We should have seen more of Jackson, and I also wished there was more on both Mark's death and Lexie's.

Did you have a favorite quote or scene from this episode?

Stacy: I loved the scenes with Arizona/Alex and Arizona/Callie when she found out that it was actually Alex who cut off her leg. When Jo made the comment about Callie cutting it off, I immediately thought no, it was Alex. I didn't realize Arizona didn't know that. I always assumed she just took her anger out on Callie because she made the call. I'm still holding out hope that these small moments between Arizona and Callie will lead to a reconciliation eventually.

Mary Kate: Definitely the scene between Meredith and Arizona. So powerful as they remembered the tragedy together. I also liked the scene where Callie and Alex told Maggie about the crash. Another big scene because, obviously, it's hard to explain this big event to someone new to the hospital, let alone the sister of one of the victims.

Amanda: I loved everything about Stephanie's storyline with the first date patient. Her outburst about being the leading lady in the story was fantastic!

Ashley: I really appreciated what Bailey said to Meredith, listed some (not even all) of the terrible things that have happened to Meredith and Derek.

Bailey: You and Derek went down in a plane, you drowned, he got shot, you gave birth in a power outage...
Meredith: Is this supposed to make me feel better?
Bailey: I'm just saying, you have every reason to be distracted. Every reason to think the sky is falling.

Grey's Anatomy Season 11 Episode 20 Quotes

There ought to be some rule, you know? People who have been in a plane crash can't work on one.

Alex

Amelia: I don't have any more to give. I'm not trying to hurt you.
Owen: I'm not hurt. I get it. And I'm done.
