Rookie Blue Season 6 Episode 5 Review: A Real Gentleman

at .  Updated at .

The Perils of Traci Nash could have doubled for the title of Rookie Blue Season 6 Episode 5 as the detective ended up being abducted right before leading her first big raid.

The moment we realized that someone else had placed the call about Leo being sick at school, I immediately thought about the man who broke in through Traci’s balcony and attacked Andy. But when Tom Kozik took note of Traci’s name on that warrant, I began to doubt who had snatched Nash up and why.

Turns out that the gun runner was the red herring and a well played one at that.

We haven’t seen much of Steve so far in Rookie Blue season 6 so it was good to see him here. He was Traci’s biggest cheerleader, lovable goofball and terrified boyfriend but when it came to the investigation to find her, he ended up sidelined which was understandable but a bit of a disappointment.

The fact that the predators involved were actually a rape duo working together made this story all the more disturbing. Unfortunately, I’ll never look at the friendly guy at my coffee place the same way again.

Elsewhere, Nick began to question why Juliet was keeping their relationship under wraps. Was it the thrill of keeping a secret? Juliet’s got enough of those and I’m really looking forward to the rest of her story coming to light, but when the truth finally comes out, will she and Nick survive? The poor guy has suffered enough failed romances since he arrived at 15.

I think Chris was finally starting to realize just how much trouble he’s in when his married, junkie, girlfriend showed up in his home with enough cocaine that they could share. I was proud of Chris for offering to call her sponsor. Unfortunately, that was the last thing she wanted. There’s no way Chris gets out of this relationship with his boss’ wife unscathed.

Gail, Dov, and Leo were really adorable. Gail would certainly make a great aunt. If she’s still planning on adopting Sophie, I wish we could see her with the girl in an episode. So far it’s been a lot of talk and not much else.

Marlo was nonexistent in this hour and I supposed that was because Jarvis officially closed the evidence room bombing case. I didn’t mind the break, but I do look forward to watching her work with Dov to solve that case. I actually kind of like Marlo as long as she's not paired with Sam.

McSwarek were giddily happy with one another from beginning to end as seen in this Rookie Blue quote

Sam: It's because we laid all of our clothes out last night. That always ensures a good tomorrow.
Andy: That's officially the lamest thing you've ever said to me. Take your shirt back off to remind me why I'm with you.

As I’m sure there will be more Marlo baby angst in the future, I’m going to hold onto these sweet moments for as long as I can.
