24: Legacy to Reboot Iconic Franchise with All-New Cast

The clock has run out on Jack Bauer.

But not on the 24 franchise itself.

Fox announced today at the Television Critics Association winter press tour that it has ordered a pilot for 24: Legacy, a series that will be set in real time... but one that will feature an entirely new cast from past seasons of this beloved drama.

Producers Howard Gordon, Manny Coto and Evan Katz will continue to helm the drama, but Kiefer Sutherland will NOT return as Jack Bauer.

According to a press release, the show will keep its iconic “real-time, pulse-pounding, fast-paced format with split screens and complex interweaving storylines, with each episode representing one hour of an eventful day."

But it won't bring back Jack or Chloe to help save the world from its latest terrorist threat.

Instead, the project will center on a military hero's return to America and the trouble that follows him back to his native country.

This trouble will force him to ask CTU for assistance in saving his life... and in stopping what potentially could be one of the largest-scale terror attacks on American soil.

No casting details have been announced yet.

What do you think? Will you tune in for a Jack Bauer-less 24?
