Wow, what a finale!
I'm still trying to get my emotions in check after all those heavy speeches on Supergirl Season 1 Episode 20.
Thank goodness for Cat and her always appreciated comic relief!
All those goodbyes were emotionally draining, but Melissa Benoist knocked each one out of the park. Kara walked away from Alex because she knew she couldn't say goodbye to her in person, but even over the com, theirs was by far the most heartbreaking.
Of course we all knew Kara would be fine, but that didn't make me any less invested in the outcome.
And just for fun we have to give a little shout out to Cat's reaction to her goodbye:
Okay, so that was either my eulogy, or your dictated suicide note. Is there something you need to tell me?
Cat
I was really hoping Kara was going to follow up that question by telling her the truth. I still feel like Cat knows or at least suspects, and I keep waiting for her to show it.
When she started packing up that box to move Kara, I really thought she was taking it to the "secret" office. Like, maybe she found it or knew all along, and was telling her to focus her energy on being Supergirl but without completely firing her.
Speaking of that promotion, it was really sweet and all, but who gets to basically choose their position? "Here's your new office, you just let me know what I'm going to be paying you for from now on..."
At least Cat finally got her name right! Will that be permanent, or a one time thing?
The fight with Alex and getting everyone's minds back happened faster than I expected. But when Max showed up to explain Myriad was still in effect, it made more sense. What didn't make sense was why he wasn't still wearing his ion blocker. Would that have been powerful enough to stop his head from exploding?
Maybe even he isn't narcissistic enough to want to be the last man on Earth.
Just when we thought Max might be coming over to the heroes' side, he has that suspicious moment with General Lane. What was that all about and how did they get ahold of that device? Why didn't Kara just destroy it?
Also, everyone who wondered last week why Max protected Cat over Alex is probably confused all over again now. Yeah, we saw that hand holding when they thought they were about to die. Are they actually trying to create a love triangle with these characters?
I'm sorry if I kissed you when you weren't in control of yourself, because I am all about consent.
Kara
Speaking of romance, are you guys ready to see James and Kara in a relationship, or is it too soon? I'm actually a little relieved they don't seem to be dragging it out.
Plus, on the off chance the show doesn't get renewed, at least we got that happy moment between them.
But I don't even want to consider the possibility of cancelation, because I really love this show, and now I need to know who (or what) is in that pod. Any guesses?
Superman still being down when the rest of the world returned to normal was again a little convenient. What was really weird about it was that Kara walked right past him to talk to J'onn and did not seem at all concerned about him.
I do love their instant messaging moments though!
What are your hopes for Supergirl Season 2?
We finally got to see J'onn as a bad-ass, and I definitely want to see more of that. I loved that he went with her to investigate the pod. It looks like they're going to be partners now, even though he's back in charge of the DEO. Are you excited for the hunt for Project Cadmus and Jeremiah? I imagine that will be the primary focus.
