Fox Cancels The Grinder, Grandfathered and Bordertown

at .

We didn't see this one coming.

All season long, the race was on to see which of the new comedies would stand the test of time.

Grandfathered or The Grinder.

Dean's Replacement - The Grinder

Surely one of the two would make the cut to a second season, right?

Nope, not so much.

This afternoon word came down that both freshman comedies starring incredibly handsome gentlemen had been canceled.

To make matters even more interesting not a single one of the new comedies introduced on Fox this season will make it to a second season.

Bordertown and Cooper Barrett's Guide to Surviving Life have also been canceled.

Honestly, the latter two weren't really in the running.

The race was always between John Stamos and Rob Lowe.

Stamos' Grandfathered did a little better in the ratings, but The Grinder had stronger critical praise.

That's why it was such a close race.

In my professional opinion (hey, I do this for a living, alright), they were both very enjoyable comedies.

More people should have watch steadily. Myself included.

Fox still has great comedies on its schedule, including Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Last Man on Earth.

Coming up for 2017-18 is a series starring Seth McFarlane which was picked up straight to series.

Fox already has some incredible dramas going to series for the new season, including The Exorcist, Lethal Weapon, 24: Legacy and Star, among others.

There's no need to count Fox out or shed any tears for losing the handsome powerhouses behind The Grinder and Grandfathered, because there is plenty more talent where they came from!

Will you be sad to see the series go? Are you a big comedy fan? What will you watch instead?

FOX Quotes

Very disappointed. Personally, I really don’t want to come back. I’d rather face the killer than backstabbers. At least I know what the motives are behind the killer.

[To Andy] If I make it back here, your ass is grass! And I’ve made sure of that.
