Secrets and Lies Season 2 Episode 10 Review: The Truth

at .

What an ending!!

Obviously we knew that we were going to find out who Kate's killer was on Secrets and Lies Season 2 Episode 10, but there was no way of predicting the final moments.

The revelations didn't stop coming in the finale of Secrets and Lies. Not only did we find out who killed Kate, and why they did it. We also were given the reunion between Danny and Rachel, that admittedly no one was interested in. Patrick finally came around to remembering about his mother, and Amanda received some bittersweet news of her own.

The Killer Is Revealed - Secrets and Lies

Amanda killed Kate in a fit of hormonal rage. Did any of you see that coming?.

Secrets and Lies Season 2 was difficult at times, because there were so many characters and so many suspects. It was hard to pinpoint who could have been the killer, and it was difficult to rule anyone out completely.

The only person I was confident didn't kill Kate, was Eric. And they tried really hard to make me doubt him, up until the confession in the interrogation room. Nearly everyone we were shown had some form of motive.

There's so much I need to tell him. He's taking over the company and he's going to be a father. Why is everyone trying to steal our joy?!

Kate

So Amanda killed Kate because she was upset to find out that Kate was pregnant. The thing is, I'm not a fan of the histrionic, jealous woman killing her best friend and sister-in-law because the woman had something that she thought she couldn't have. It was cringe-worthy at best.

She was so upset, angry, and jealous that she was willing to lash out at a woman who has never done her ill, and was the love of her brother's life? She was so upset and so self-consumed, and selfish that at no point it crossed her mind to be happy for her brother?

She couldn't be understandably sad, but also a little bit excited because at least a child would be entering her life in some capacity and she'd be an aunt? Wouldn't it have been fine if she just became the doting aunt?

Yes, I get that she was on medication, because she was wrongfully diagnosed as going through early menopause. I don't even want to unpack all the ways in which I cringed at Amanda bitterly spewing that she was somehow less than or no longer a woman because at 33 years of age, she was going through menopause.

I wish for the sake of so many women, regardless of their age, that we could burn that narrative to a crisp and never look back. It's so harmful and toxic to tie femininity and womanhood to that. But alas, it was what it was.

How can you expect me to take your child, raise your child when you killed mine?

Eric

The real kicker was finding out that Amanda was, in fact, pregnant after all. Which means she flipped out and killed her best friend for nothing. They could have been happily raising kids together a year from now. That has to hurt for everyone involved, because sweet Kate died in vain.

I understood why she would want her brother to take care of her kid. Especially since it wasn't Neil's kid as Eric assumed, but how does she expect him to just get past all of that and raise this kid without being reminded every day of what he was deprived of?

I almost called dad to tell him. He should be proud. All four of his kids are criminals.

Patrick

The Warners are a royally screwed up family. Nearly everyone in it is a criminal. As it stands, John Warner didn't have a single child that didn't find him or herself behind bars. And he's a criminal, too.

Eric is going to be plenty busy raising his niece or nephew, much like he was obligated to raise his siblings growing up, and visiting some of his siblings in prison! Maybe he'll find someone to help him out with that.

What were we left to think about him calling Carlie Peterson back? I don't know how I feel about that.

Eric: This is just not how you reconcile with your daughter.
Danny: If my kid is gonna hook, she needs to get used to going to jail.

Was it wrong that I was perfectly fine with Rachel being arrested? I know she's a sexual assault victim, and I do feel for her in that regard, but her story was nothing extraordinary and I don't understand why we needed  a large chunk of the season dedicated to her being missing.

She wasn't missing. She was just hooking. It was her choice. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the sweet come to Jesus moment Eric had with her in the car, so I guess that was nice.

Jennifer: Hi Mom.
Cornell: Jennifer, are you high? [pauses] Jennifer, where's my gun?

I was so happy for Cornell that she finally got the right person and closed a case! I've come to enjoy Cornell this past season, and I never anticipated that ever happening! So I was genuinely happy for her.

I was also extremely concerned when her daughter turned around looking high as a kite and those gunshots went off. What the hell happened?  And why did they have to leave us with that cliffhanger?
