When one door closes, another one opens.
Just like the door closed on the Rayna Jaymes years on the mid-season finale of the CMT hit, it's time for the series to adapt to a life without Connie Britton's alter ego.
If some of you are still on the fence about whether to stick with the series when it returns for Season 5B later this year, we have some casting scoop that will surely soften the blow of the loss of Rayna.
Rachel Bilson and Kaitlin Doubleday are tapped to appear in multiple episodes of the country music drama.
Most of you will probably know Bilson from her days as Summer Roberts on The O.C.
That show lasted for four seasons and featured the likes of Mischa Barton, Benjamin McKenzie and Adam Brody.
Barton then moved on to Hart of Dixie, which spanned four seasons. She's no stranger to primetime soaps, and we have no doubt she will fit in very well with the residents of Nashville.
The star took to Instagram to reveal the exciting news.
Kaitlin Doubleday's most recent TV appearance was as Rhonda Lyon on Fox drama, Empire.
Unfortunately, Rhonda was killed off on Empire Season 3 Episode 1 after a brutal rooftop fight with Anika Lyon.
It was a terrible way for the character to go, but the powers that be over at Empire HQ had no idea what to do with the character.
Fingers crossed she gets some juicy material to sink her teeth into on Nashville.
After being canceled by ABC last year, fans campaigned to have the series renewed. CMT decided to take on the show after negotiating a deal that involved Hulu.
The show has cemented itself as the cable network's highest-rated series to date.
