Spoiler Alert!

Do Not Proceed If You Have Not Watched Scandal Season 6 Episode 11!!!

You've been warned. The rest of you probably want to know what the heck is going on!

For the second time in Scandal's history, a series regular has been killed off.

Portia de Rossi first joined Scandal back in Scandal Season 4 as Elizabeth North. She was made a series regular just before Scandal Season 5.

Despite the heavy storyline following Mellie and the presidency during Scandal Season 6 and the fact North is her Chief of Staff, de Rossi hasn't been around all that much.

There's a reason for that. She's been very busy.

So busy, in fact, that she's off to do other things creatively, and in very dramatic fashion, North lost her life on "Trojan Horse," when she was beaten to death with a golf club by the Mystery Woman to keep Mellie in line.

Mellie had considered exposing the Mystery Woman and her boss' desires to blackmail the electoral college to ensure she became president and someone had to go to show just how serious they were about her getting into the Oval Office.

So Mellie is a president without a Chief of Staff, beginning another presidency with another terrible secret with an even bigger threat hanging over her head.

“I am incredibly grateful for my time here at Scandal!,” De Rossi said in a statement.

“I will miss playing Elizabeth North but I’ve made the decision to focus on a business opportunity. Shonda, Betsy and the cast have been incredibly supportive of my decision. I will always love my Scandal family. I’ll be watching!”

“I have been a fan of Portia’s for years and it was an honor to have her join our Scandal family,” Rhimes said in a statement.

“Portia infused Liz North with a smart powerful vulnerable soul while also making the humor sing — and that brought all of us in the writers' room a lot of joy."

"If I could keep her forever, I would — but kidnapping is illegal. Besides, I am incredibly impressed with the vision she has for her creative future. I wish her all the best.”

There will be a full review of the installment here on TV Fanatic later this evening.
