Riverdale will return to The CW in just a few days, but that's not to say the casting scoop is dying down.

A fan-favorite character is getting a sibling for Riverdale Season 2.

According to TV Line, Hart Denton has joined the cast as Chic, Betty Cooper's long-lost brother and is slated to debut on the hit series midway through the new season.

According to the report, his role will be on a recurring basis. Denton previously appeared on Fox's Lethal Weapon last year. He is relatively new to the acting game.

Viewers did not know the character existed until Riverdale Season 1 Episode 13 when Alice Cooper dropped the bomb that she got pregnant in high school.

She did give the baby up for adoption, but clearly, she goes on the lookout for him during the new season. Either that, or he's part of the new band of villains set to cause trouble in the town.

So long as he's not there on some sort of revenge mission against Betty and Polly because they were not put up for adoption. That storyline has been done to death, and we could do without it.

There's also the possibility that Betty will go out of her way to seek out her brother. It's not every day you learn your mother gave away a kid before you were even born.

As previously reported, Riverdale will run 22 episodes this season, which means there will be a lot more time for the characters to be fleshed out, and that's always a good thing.

On top of that, The CW has also ordered a companion series focusing on the character of Sabrina Spellman. That show is in development for the 2018-2019 season.

There's a good chance a backdoor pilot will air later this season on Riverdale to introduce the characters and the world.
