In a season full of "10s," who will be #1? That's the question we'll be asking all season long.
Fourteen new queens entered the Werk Room on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 10 Episode 1 to find America's Next Drag Superstar.
To crown a queen who exemplifies charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent, these competitors are going to be put through the ultimate test. Acting challenges, runway designs, and jaw-dropping lip syncs will be par for the course until only one remains. In fact, already one queen failed to shine in her first outing.
After a design-focused challenge, Kalorie Karbdashian-Williams defeated Vanessa Vanjie Mateo in the first lip sync of RuPaul's Drag Race Season 10.
Also featured in the season premiere were the entrance looks by the queens, the return of Drag Race alum for the Mini Challenge, and real world drama that was brought to the Werk Room.

13. New Crew Members
With so many Drag Race alum returning for a Mini Challenge, RuPaul couldn't waste the opportunity to use them in future content and gags. Case in point: The cutaway jokes with the alum working as new production crew members. The reveal was a simple joke, but it was a funny one to see their expressions setting up the runway. Hopefully this continues for the rest of RuPaul's Drag Race Season 10.
12. Mother Of Fashion
RuPaul always has great style as a legendary drag superstar. However, her outfit for the season premiere was positively gag-worthy. She looked gorgeous and elegant in her futuristic black and white catsuit.
11. Mayhem Miller Breaks Down
Earning a spot on a reality TV show you love takes a long time; it's not an easy process. Once you finally get the chance to compete, words could not describe the feeling. So, it's not surprising that Mayhem Miller broke down during her first critique after auditioning for countless years. This was finally her opportunity and the emotions were strong.
10. So. Many. Puns!
Who needs shade when you have puns?! Mama Ru was living for the sound of puns with her first #DragMail of the season. She called out every past winner of RuPaul's Drag Race to kick off the first Mini Challenge. Bring on more puns!
9. Drag On A Dime
We were living for the return of the first ever Maxi Challenge of RuPaul's Drag Race. The thrifty challenge, where queens have to create outfits from trash, is a tough task that separates the queens and the design royalty. Seeing the competitors think on their feet and try to come up with a glamorous outfit perfectly showed which outfit superstars we need to keep our eyes on.
8. Kalorie Makes It Rain
The lip syncs are getting more elaborate; you gotta serve it or be served a plane ticket home. Kalorie came ready to play, slay and...pay. During her lip sync against Vanessa, she reached into her chest of tricks and threw out cash into the air before dropping into a split. Sure, we already saw Kalorie do a split in the past, but the entire moment as a whole was so shocking and fun. She's going to need to raise the bar the next time to stay in the competition.
7. Eureka's Reality
In RuPaul's Drag Race Season 9, Eureka suffered a knee injury that sent her home; she got a spot to come back the following season. When she returned, everything seemed like it should. However, when she revealed what happened during the year in between, our jaws dropped over the reality of her injury. Poor Eureka! She suffered a surgery and a potential to never dance ago or compete. Our hearts broke for Eureka.
6. Miz Cracker's Tragic Lady
During the first runway, Miz Cracker channeled a sad woman in her Drag On A Dime look, and it was gorgeous! The blue makeup, the hats made into an outfit, and the way she acted in her role tied everything together for an incredible spin on the catwalk. Loved it!
5. Making An Entrance
Speaking of the outfits, we were treated to entrances during the season premiere. The entrance into the Werk Room is our first look at the queens and their personal styles; we get to shape up the talent and pick out our early favorites. Plus, we get a few iconic moments that become GIF-worthy posts. Some of the queens who stood out in the beginning were Monet X Change, Miz Cracker, Monique Heart, Mayhem Miller, Aquaria, and Yahua Hamasaki.
4. Monique, Queen Of Hearts
How did Monique Heart not earn a spot in the top?! Her runway outfit was incredible! The design, the pinning, the use of cards and the textures created a high fashion look that should've given her high praise. Hopefully this was simply a miss because that ensemble was a 10 across the board.
3. Bad Blood
The Aquaria vs. Miz Cracker beef isn't the first time real world drama entered the Werk Room. We previously had Coco Montrese vs. Alyssa Edwards and Thorgy Thor vs. Bob The Drag Queen to tide us over. At first the drama seemed trivial (many people look alike, it's common), but the minute Aquaria and Miz Cracker coincidentally wore the shade colour of makeup for their runway, the claws came out and our interests were peaked! You couldn't help but notice the similarities, even everyone in the Werk Room were gagging over it. This drama is only going to grow.
2. "Farrah Moan" Returns
RuPaul loved being in on the joke about Farrah Moan; she absolutely did look like music superstar Christina Aguilera. This was one of the best moments of the season premiere because Christina joined in on the fun and even changed her voice to pretend that she was a contestant. Plus, she was an enthusiastic judge with good critiques.
1. Drag Race Alum
We've had nine seasons of RuPaul's Drag Race (and three of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars) over the last ten years. Think about it: That's a lot of queens! Seeing the return of many familiar competitors back for the Mini Challenge left a smile on our faces; their return brought back so many nostalgic moments. This entire challenge, which involved the queens performing on the runway for the alum, was so much fun to watch. The current queens were having a good time, the Drag Race alum were having a blast, and we got a medly of RuPaul's music hits. Talk about the perfect challenge to start the new season.
