Supergirl Season 3 Episode 16 Review: Of Two Minds

at .  Updated at .

Not only did Supergirl Season 3 Episode 16 finally introduce us to Pestilence, but the three Worldkillers are all together.

We should be gearing up for one epic battle!

Will Kara find a way to get through to their human sides, or will Imra kill Pestilence to save the future?

The Truth - Supergirl Season 3 Episode 16

It could play out in so many different ways; it's hard to guess how it will all go down.

In the future, only Pestilence survives, so does that mean we should start preparing ourselves for Sam's death? Perhaps, or maybe Lena succeeds in finding a way to separate Sam from Reign, and only Reign dies.

Who knows, maybe they find a way to do that for all three.

Kara is adamantly against killing Pestilence (or anyone for that matter) and determined to find a way to get through to the Worldkillers' human sides.

Imra has seen the future. She knows Pestilence becomes Blight and she is just as determined to stop that from happening, by any means necessary.

Which side are you on?

If it's between her and the millions of people who die by the Blight in the future, I'm going to kill her.

Imra

Getting through to Pestilence looks like it will be a much more difficult task than with Reign or Purity. We've seen both of them struggle with their dueling personalities, but Pestilence doesn't appear to have the same connection with Grace. Maybe Grace simply isn't as strong as Sam and Julia.

But does that mean she shouldn't continue to try?

They usually wouldn't know what the future holds, and they would all have the luxury of believing they can save Grace without resorting to killing her, but the Legion has seen the future, and they know that whatever Kara tries will fail. While Team Supergirl does not condone killing, it's hard not to see Imra's point of view at least.

But, what if with Lena's help, both sides can win?

If they can separate Grace from Pestilence, they can kill one while saving the other, thus preventing the future from happening and maybe even saving Imra's sister.

Trouble Is Coming - Supergirl Season 3 Episode 16

Anyone who watches Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D knows that they're in a similar situation right now. They want to save Coulson's life, but Yo-Yo knows that letting him die is the only way to stop the end of the world. It's quite the conundrum.

All right, so we all knew that Lena keeping Sam a secret was going to backfire on her. Now that Supergirl knows, it's bound to put a strain on their friendship, despite the fact that she's keeping an even bigger secret from Lena.

When Reign threatened Ruby's life, Sam practically begged Lena to bring Supergirl into the mix, but Lena convinced her that was the wrong move. Honestly, I can't decide if I believed Lena's reasoning or if there was some ulterior motive behind her wanting to solve this problem herself.

Don't get me wrong, when I say ulterior motive I'm not alluding to the possibility of her being evil. I don't believe that for a second, but I do wonder if she truly believes she's protecting Sam, or if she wants to be the one to save her.

Lena and Sam - Supergirl

We can see from the promo that Lena is going to be brought into the DEO, so whatever animosity might be between her and Supergirl will at least be put aside for the greater good. They should have all been working together on this from the moment Lena discovered Sam was Reign, but at least now they'll all be on the same page.

Lena promised Sam that Ruby was safe. Let's hope she is. Now that Reign is free again, they should probably bring her to the DEO for protection.

It would not be surprising at all if Alex ends up fostering her for the time being. She wants to be a mom, and she already has a connection with Ruby. It makes sense. Plus, Alex can keep her safe.

Well, maybe.

Alex has had some terrible luck facing off against the Worldkillers so far. She may be a badass agent, but so far she's suffered a broken leg, had Reign nearly crush her to death by stepping on her chest, and been infected by Pestilence.

She's lucky to be alive.

I had to purchase some apple cider vinegar and I nearly caused a riot at the Piggly Wiggly.

Brainy

It was great to get Brainy back after he and Imra have been MIA recently.

Alex pulling the gun on him and Winn recognizing him instantly were priceless. Even better was a delirious Winn describing his attacker as Freddy Krueger and Mon-El explaining social media. He's been a welcome addition to the team.

Side note: Did anyone else immediately think of Boomer from Battlestar Galactica when they revealed that Pestilence's human name was Grace Parker? I know Boomer was Grace Park, but it's close.

Your turn! Were you guys on Kara's or Imra's side? Have your excitement levels increased now that the trio of Worldkillers is all together?
