The Resident Adds Daniella Alonso for Season 2

Daniella Alonso is headed to Fox's The Resident. 

Per TV Line, the Revolution alum has joined the cast as Zoey Barlow, a fiery "single mother whose two adopted children both have chronic illnesses."

Alonso has appeared in a string of hit TV shows during her time in the spotlight, such as Animal Kingdom, The Night Shift, and Criminal Minds

There has been a flurry of casting announcements for this buzzy drama ever since it was renewed for Season 2 earlier this year.

Moran Atias (PR chief Renata Morali), Merrin Dungey (ex-CEO Claire Thorpe) and Melina Kanakaredes (Lane Hunter) were all confirmed to be leaving. 

That news broke around the time that The Resident Season 1 guest stars, Malcolm-Jamal Warner and Glenn Morshower landed series regular status for the sophomore run.

Jane Leeves and Jenna Dewan will also form part of the revamped cast. 

The Resident Season 1 was a hit for the network, averaging 4.5 million viewers and a 1.0 rating among adults 18-49 in live + same day figures.

It achieved middling reviews when it premiered earlier this year, but it still managed to secure decent ratings. 

It will be paired with 9-1-1 in the fall. The high-octane drama was a success for Fox the moment it debuted.
