Grey's Anatomy Round Table: MerLink, MerLuca, or Schmico – Which 'Ship Won You Over?!

at .

Let the long break begin!

Grey's Anatomy Season 15 Episode 8 was quite the sendoff for the winter break.

Some 'ships are officially sailing, some devastating news has been revealed, and multiple lives hang in the balance. Just another midseason finale of the soapiest medical drama on the air.

Join TV Fanatics Stacy Glanzman, Rachelle Lewis, Paul Dailly, and Jasmine Blu as they discuss that mind-blowing hour!

Between agreeing to have drinks with Link, and DeLuca expressing his interest, how are you feeling about this love triangle and exploration of Mer's love life?

Stacy: I am not a fan of love triangles, and this one does not interest me. I don't think either guy is right for Meredith, but I do like the idea of exploring Meredith's love life.

I actually want to see her go on more dates like the one with John. She needs to meet people outside of the hospital and not be limited to doctors all the time, especially ones who have dated her sister.

Seriously, are there so few men in Seattle that they're just passing them around now? If she's going to date one, I definitely prefer Link. At least he's new, and I can see them having a good time but not necessarily becoming something serious.

Rachelle: I am not a fan of love triangles either but in this case, I am on team DeLuca. I hoped she would date someone outside of the hospital, but it seems Grey’s is insistent on pairing her with either Link or DeLuca.

I agree with Stacy there have to be men outside of Seattle Grace. Even pair her with one of the firefighters from Station 19, but please, give her a love interest that is not one of the doctors. She had a great love with Derek at Seattle Grace; let her find love elsewhere.

Cece: If I die today, I die fighting. I die knowing I did everything I could. But Dr. Grey, if you don't fight; if you don't try, if you don't do your part and squeeze all the light, and love, and joy you can out of this one life you've been given, I'm going to hunt you from my grave.
Meredith: OK.
Cece: OK. Now give me those organs. I would much rather hunt you from above ground.

Paul: I'm sorry, but there's a lack of chemistry between Meredith and each of the men, so I don't care for it. DeLuca's attraction to Mer came out of nowhere, and I'm struggling to care for it. I do want Meredith to find love again, but I think she should look outside the workplace for this one.

Jasmine: I agree with the others. I like Mer dating men outside of the hospital. I see slightly more chemistry between Mer and DeLuca during certain moments, but it did come out of freaking nowhere. I'm surprised at how many people enjoy it despite the abruptness of it and a plethora of other reasons.

I don't hate the triangle as long as it remains a flirtation, but I like Mer going on a series of dates and easing back into the dating realm. She hasn't done that often because whether it was Derek, Finn, or Nathan, she always jumped into relationships more than dating, you know?

The Third Option - Grey's Anatomy Season 15 Episode 6

Should Meredith have told Maggie about Catherine? Should Maggie have told Jackson?

Stacy: No on both accounts. Catherine should be the one telling the people she loves, and it's frustrating she didn't do it herself. I think Meredith should have pushed Catherine to tell Richard and Jackson, but there was only so much she could do.

Rachelle: No, she should not have told Maggie and Maggie had no business telling Jackson. Seriously, for doctors, they are terrible at keeping secrets, even though there is supposed to be doctor-patient confidentiality. It is getting to be annoying.

Paul: Agreed. Nothing should have been said about it. Things like this are starting to frustrate me with this show.

Jasmine: It is happening a lot, and that part is starting to get annoying and redundant. I agree there. I'm still curious about whether or not Maggie said something outright or eluded to it.

We learned more about Levi, and the Levi and Nico ship is sailing. Thoughts?

Stacy: Go, Levi! I loved that he stood up for himself and put Nico in his place. I was so annoyed at Nico for completely ignoring Levi's warnings and going out into that wind storm. He endangered both of them with his recklessness.

I'm glad we learned about Levi's background a little bit. He may not have much experience with relationships, but at least he has plenty of confidence and is perfectly happy with the person he is.

Levi: There's a reason why they call Pacific Northwest storms "the big blow." This is an extra big blow.
Nico: See? I can't even touch that.

Rachelle: I loved that Levi stood up for himself, as well as opened up to Nico. However, I am really not all that invested in this storyline. Although I like Levi, I would have rather gotten to know his character outside of a relationship. Nico bugs me, and I just am not all that interested in their budding romance.

Paul: I'm glad. There's been an attraction there since they first laid eyes on each other. Now that they're both on the same page, I hope they can cut the typical relationship drama out.

Jasmine: I agree with Stacy. Levi had me grinning the entire episode. I was so proud of him for standing up for himself, putting Nico in his place, and being OK with who he is as a person.

I always had a soft spot for him because he reminds me of George, but I loved him the most during this episode. While I do agree that we need to learn more about Nico, I LOVE this 'ship. It's my favorite one right now.

Shameless Schmico

Owen knows the truth, but it may complicate things now that Amelia wants to foster Betty. React.

Stacy: I love that Amelia wants to foster Betty. This makeshift family has been one of the best storylines of the season. I wish they never brought Teddy back honestly. This story is great and enjoyable to watch without the added drama. We don't need it.

Rachelle: I agree with Stacy, I love that Amelia wants to foster Betty. I am glad Owen knows the truth, but I fear it just means he and Amelia are headed for another breakup.

Considering they have already created an unconventional family, it would be nice to see them work together to find figure out how Teddy and the baby fit into that family. Owen will step up for his child, but he shouldn’t have to lose the family he has created.

Paul: This didn't have much of an effect on me. Maybe it's because it should have happened on Grey's Anatomy Season 15 Episode 1. Amelia wanting to adopt Betty was one of the most heartwarming scenes yet on Grey's Anatomy Season 15.

Jasmine: I agree with Paul. It should have happened forever ago, so it was long overdue. I love Amelia wanting to foster Betty, and their family has been one of the most heartwarming parts of the season thus far.

Betty Returns

Who was the MVP of the episode?

Stacy: I think it's probably Levi. He handled himself perfectly with Nico and I'm looking forward to watching this relationship develop.

Rachelle: I didn’t really think there was an MVP this episode. I thought so many characters, Amelia, Meredith, Maggie, Levi, even Richard all had pivotal moments that are shaping their futures.

Paul: I'll go with Amelia. She was great from start to finish.

Jasmine: Levi. I loved his coming out monologue in the ambulance. I love how sassy he was and how unapologetic he was. I love that he has come into his own almost overnight.

There He Blows - Grey's Anatomy Season 15 Episode 8

What was your favorite scene and/or quote?

Stacy: For me, it was Amelia having to break the news to her patient's mother, and then running to tell Betty that she can always come back. It was a devastating and powerful moment.

I think Amelia really felt like Betty's mom at that moment. It doesn't matter how upset or angry she was, she couldn't handle the idea that next time she might not come back.

Rachelle: It was hands down the moment Amelia ran to Betty and told her thanks for coming back. Watching her realize as she talked to her patients and realizing her cold reaction to Betty earlier was because she felt like a mom, was one of the best moments Amelia has ever had. It was powerful, heartbreaking and so loving.

Betty: Just go ahead and yell. I know you're mad. I get it.
Amelia: Thank you for coming back. You can always come back, OK? You can always come back.
Betty: OK.

Paul: Jo realizing that Alex didn't send the documents. It came out of nowhere, but it was perfect because it reiterated the fact that Alex is a man-child.

Jasmine: That Amelia and Betty hug. Loved it! Also, Levi's speech before Nico kissed him. Both were powerful moments for different reasons.

Second Honeymoon - Grey's Anatomy Season 15 Episode 8

Which cliffhanger outcome are you looking forward to the most when the show returns?

Stacy: I am pretty invested in Cece's story, and I really hope she survives her transplant surgery. We've been following her all season, and I'm not ready to let her go yet. She needs a happy ending.

Rachelle: Cece for sure, as well as Amelia, Teddy, and Owen trapped in the elevator.

Paul: It's a full house on Cece! Her story can't end with her trapped in an elevator, can it?

Jasmine: Yup, Cece. I need her out of that elevator pronto. Cece needs to survive.
