Empire's Jussie Smollett looks set to return for a potential sixth season of the primetime soap, according to his co-star Taraji P. Henson.

"I talk to Jussie all the time, he's doing well," Henson said on a recent episode of The View, in which she was asked about what was going on with the embattled actor.

"Yeah, we're all doing well, the show is doing well, we're on hiatus right now, the writers are trying to figure out what the next season is going to look like; what our storyline is going to be," she continued.

"They're trying to drum up some really good juicy stuff for you guys, so that's where we are right now."

She was then asked about Jussie's involvement with the series beyond the current fifth season, and she was quick to answer.

"Yes, I haven't heard anything else," she revealed of her co-star's involvement.

Fox previously decided to remove Smollett from the final two episodes of Empire Season 5. Scenes for the episodes were being filmed around the time the actor was arrested for falsifying a police report.

Smollett was indicted on 16 felony counts in Chicago and accused of staging a racial and homophobic attack. But the charges were later dropped.

At the time, Smollett claimed that two white men beat him up, screamed racial and homophobic slurs at him, and that they tied a noose around his neck, before pouring a substance on him. He also stated that the men said he was living in "MAGA country."

The story started to change after two brothers claimed that Smollett orchestrated the whole thing and paid them.

In another twist, all the charges against Smollett were dropped on March 26. Many took issue with this ruling as many close to the case said that there was no point in pursuing it because he would just be given community service and that he did not pose a threat to the public.

There are even reports that the City of Chicago is trying to recoup the money spent on the investigation because both the Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Chicago P.D. Superintendent, Eddie Johnson, think the star is guilty.
