It will be a guest-starring role, but it has yet to be confirmed just how many episodes McDonnell will appear in.

Mary is probably most well-known for her starring role on TNT's Major Crimes, which wrapped after six seasons in January 2018.

The show was beloved by fans, but it was a casualty of a change in focus for the cabler's scripted series, and many fans were left unsatisfied with the ending.

"After Mars Investigations is hired by the parents of one of the victims to find their son’s killer, Veronica is drawn into an epic eight-episode mystery that pits the enclave’s wealthy elites, who would rather put an end to the month-long bacchanalia, against a working class that relies on the cash influx that comes with being the West Coast’s answer to Daytona Beach."

Hulu placed a series order in the fall, and it is expected to premiere before 2019 is over. Production has wrapped, so we could be looking at a summer run.

Veronica Mars aired for three seasons from 2004-07 before being revived as a fan-funded film in 2014.

Veronica Mars Quotes

Girl, you should hear what people say about you.

Wallace

This is my school. If you go here, your parents are either millionaires or your parents work for millionaires. Neptune, California, a town without a middle class. If you’re in the second group, you get a job; fast food, movie theatres, mini-marts. Or you could be me. My after-school job means tailing philandering spouses or investigating false injury claims.
