Pitch: Disney May Revive Fox's Canceled Baseball Drama

Pitch may be getting another inning!

According to THR, Disney is mulling a revival of the Fox baseball drama which starred Kylie Bunbury and Mark-Paul Gosselaar.

Per the report, the revival could be part of a plan to keep Dan Fogelman in the fold at 20th Century Television.

It's certainly a surprising twist, especially when you consider that Pitch suffered from low ratings for its freshman run

Pitch Season 1 averaged 3 million total viewers and a 0.8 rating in live + same day metrics, but the series did amass a 94% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The series focused on the first female Major League Baseball pitcher during her rookie season.

It's always difficult when one of the good shows get canceled, but if this report is to be believed, we could be looking at a revival of sorts for the series.

Dan Fogelman took to social media shortly after the THR article went live with the following post.

Fogelman also created NBC's This Is Us, and the THR report states that the showrunner is in-demand on the heels of the success of his shows.

Gosselaar also took to social media in the aftermath of the article with the most epic response:

"After reading this article about the possibility of a PITCH reboot, I’m more confused than ever on whether to shave or not?" he said. "Let’s get these #Pitches started!"

Pitch concluded in December 2016, and much of the cast has moved on. A return to Fox is unlikely, but Disney does have a variety of potential homes for the show.

Assuming the cast could return, the most plausible home would probably be on Disney+, the upcoming streaming service from Disney.

As always, we'll keep you up to speed on any new developments!

What are your thoughts on the potential revival?

Would you watch it?

Pitch Quotes

Ginny: But none of that matters, you know why?
Frank: No, but color me intrigued.
Ginny: Because today I'm the starting pitcher for the San Diego Padres.

I know it's only a 2 minute ride to the stadium and you've probably dealt with this kind of paparazzi before, but there's a billion dollar piece of cargo back here, and if you Princess Di her ass and you and me survive, I'm going to Red Wedding you and your entire family.
