We have our first big recasting ahead of the 2019-20 season!

The first show making a change is The CW's new take on Nancy Drew.

Everwood veteran, Scott Wolf, has been drafted in to replace Freddie. 

According to the report, the recasting was amicable, and it comes as the producers have decided to go in a different direction for the role of Carson Drew, the father of the show's titular crime-solver.

Carson is an attorney, but the new take will find him estranged from Nancy following the death of her mother. 

With the investigation into his late wife's murder bringing past secrets to light, it only makes their relationship more strained.

Newcomer, Kennedy McMann is taking on the lead role of Nancy. 

"Set in the summer after her high school graduation, when 18-year-old Nancy Drew thought she'd be leaving her hometown for college," reads the official logline.

"But when a family tragedy holds her back another year, she finds herself embroiled in a ghostly murder investigation -- and along the way, uncovers secrets that run deeper than she ever imagined."

The rest of the cast is rounded out by Leah Lewis, Tunji Kasim, Maddison Jaizani, Alex Saxon, Alvina August, Pamela Sue Martin. 

Recasts at this time of year not uncommon. It could be a network decision, or it could come from the creative forces.

Nancy Drew is one of three pilots picked up to series at The CW. 

The young-skewing network has also ordered a Riverdale spinoff set in the future titled Katy Keene.

Additionally, Arrowverse spinoff, Batwoman has landed a series order. It is thought that the Ruby Rose-led series will usher in phase two of The CW's superhero brand.
