The Affair's fifth and final season will get underway later this year.
Showtime has confirmed the sudsy drama will kick off its 11-episode season on Sunday, August 25 at 9/8c.
The premium cabler has also unveiled a brand new logline for The Affair Season 5.
“Helen (played by Maura Tierney) begins the season involved in an intoxicating new affair with Sasha Mann (Bron/Broen‘s Claes Bang), a charismatic movie star who offers to give her everything she’s been missing," it reads.
"Noah (Dominic West) meanwhile has to swallow his pride and his jealousy and step in to take care of his family in her absence."
"But just when things seem to have stabilized, a chance encounter with someone from the distant past sets in a motion a sequence of events that brings them both to their knees.”
Additionally, it finds the characters “coming to terms with the consequences of their choices, as they make the realization that if they really want to change their futures, they must first face the past."
"This final season is about how everything does really fall apart in the end, but somewhere in that wreckage, the seeds of change finally sprout.”
As previously reported, Anna Paquin is taking on the role of Joanie Lockhart, meaning that part of the final season will be taking place in the distant future.
Joanie will go on a mission Montauk with the aim of finding out more about what happened to her mother, Alison.
If you watch The Affair online, you know that Ruth Wilson exited the series during The Affair Season 4, with Alison being killed off.
If you were holding out hope for Joshua Jackson to return, we have some bad news. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that he will not appear during the final season in any capacity.
