The Originals may soon be returning to Mystic Falls.
Ever since The Originals concluded, and Hope Mikaelson returned to the Salvatore School, Legacies has charted her journey.
Fans have been crying out for members of her family to stop by. Rebekah, Kol, and Freya are still very much alive in the narrative.
Thankfully, Julie Plec has addressed those concerns and has admitted that something could be in the works.
"I think there's going to be an opportunity this year to see some of the Originals," she revealed in an interview with TV Guide.
"I don't know who and I don't know when, but the way that Hope's storyline is shaping up, there's definitely a link to the family that got left behind ... that we will have to address at a certain point."
"And it would be nice to see a familiar face."
While this is not confirmation that it's happening, it certainly sounds like something Plec and the creative forces behind the show are thinking about.
We can probably rule out returns from Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gilles, and Phoebe Tonkin.
Their characters were killed off during The Originals Season 5 -- the final season of the show.
All three actors have moved on to other things, so it's hard to imagine them wanting to stop by -- even in a guest-starring capacity.
Legacies Season 1 concluded with Hope making the ultimate sacrifice: She dove head-first into Malivore to save her friends and family.
It was a pivotal moment and gave the teenager purpose after years of thinking that her very existence was an abomination.
But she's erased herself from existence, effectively meaning that her family does not know she exists.
Will mother nature step in to save her?
Or will another returning cast member from The Vampire Diaries or The Originals do the job?
That's a big question. That's THE big question!
What are your thoughts on this?
Who would you want to return?
Did you ever imagine you could have a show like The Vampire Diaries running for decades???
You know what to do.
