Now that the truth is out about Hope, it's time to look ahead to Legacies Season 2 Episode 8, aka a Christmas special of the hit CW drama. 

The CW has dropped a bunch of photos, a teaser, as well as a spoilery synopsis for "This Christmas Was Surprisingly Violent," airing Thursday, December 12 at 9/8c. 

Let's start with the synopsis:

IT'S CHRISTMAS IN MYSTIC FALLS -- Hope (Danielle Rose Russell) joins forces with an unlikely ally to take down a Christmas monster, who's using holiday cheer to infiltrate the Salvatore School.

Elsewhere, Landon (Aria Shahghasemi) surprises Rafael (Peyton Alex Smith) with news about his family lineage, and Sebastian (guest star Thomas Doherty) accompanies Lizzie (Jenny Boyd) on her latest mission.

Kaylee Bryant and Matthew Davis also star. Brett Matthews directed the episode written by Brett Matthews & Hannah Rosner (#208). Original airdate 12/12/2019.

Legacies has been playing it safe. As the successor to The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, it has kept character deaths to a minimum, with every single series regular from Legacies Season 1 still part of the show today. 

If you watch Legacies online, you know that Legacies Season 2 Episode 7 teased that a villain worse than Malivore was on the way to the Salvatore School and that the teenagers would not be safe. 

The official teaser for the episode confirms a Krampus storyline, Clarke's return, as well as Santa, so there's bound to be some scary things going down at the school. 

This would probably be the right time to leave a character fate up in the air, especially with the show going on its midseason hiatus. Fans want to be left on tenterhooks to think about the show while it's off the air. 

The Krampus storyline will likely be resolved quickly, but then we might get more insight into the evil on the horizon. The Sphinx's final riddle certainly alluded to Kai, who we know is coming to Legacies in 2020. 

Kai is a wild one who could have many people working for him if he's somehow managed to escape the prison world. Time will tell.
