Criminal Minds still has a lot of stories left to tell.
CBS revealed the series would be back during the 2017-2018 season for a thirteenth season. Episode orders have yet to be confirmed.
Criminal Minds Season 12 has found the grisly series embracing change, with Thomas Gibson being written out of the series early last season due to an on-set altercation.
Paget Brewster was drafted in to appease fans when Gibson's exit was just months after the departure of Shemar Moore.
Initially, Brewster was back for a guest stint, but it quickly became more permanent.
It seemed likely Mathew Gray Gubler's Spencer Reid was being written out earlier this season when the character was arrested for murder.
However, the series has managed to create an intricate tale about him behind bars.
Also, Adam Rodriguez was added to the cast for some new blood, but it seems like the cast shuffling has hurt the series.
Ratings down 22 percent this year to 7.5 million viewers and a 1.4 rating. The erosion is somewhat concerning, but it still ranks as the fourth highest-rated drama on the network.
Companion series, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders is not expected to return after slipping considerably vs. last year.
