Anna Pigeon Sneak Peek: Frieda & Anna are the Dynamic We Didn’t Know We Needed

If there’s one thing we can all agree on, it’s that family can get complicated.

That may be a truth Anna faces during Anna Pigeon Season 1 Episode 8 as she lands a new investigation that could raise a few flags.

And we were fortunate enough to score a sneak peek of “The Death Grin,” which features one of the most endearing but underrated characters of the series.

If you’ve been following along with Anna Pigeon, you know how easily it is for her to stumble into some truly out-there cases.

From murder investigations and robberies to missing persons and cold cases, being a park ranger has led her to crime-fighting in ways no one could’ve imagined.

And it’s been a great distraction for her from a personal life that has been weighing her down with a grief that has kept her running from her past, her feelings, and the truth.

The funny thing about Anna is that even though she’s often falling apart or struggling to keep it together, she’s whip-smart, intuitive, and a force to be reckoned with when it comes to solving crimes.

Others around her have quickly noticed, which means she may be the person they turn to when they have concerns or need help.

According to our exclusive clip, that may be the case for Frieda.

The hour, called “The Death Grin,” teases that the community will discover the body of a revered artist in the river, and from the sounds of things, it may be written off as a suicide.

From the sneak peek, Frieda opens up about Buck, and she’s on alert about the fact that Buck may have left a suicide note.

She asks Anna to let her read it, and to Frieda’s credit, the brevity alone is worth raising red flags.

We quickly learn that Frieda and Buck were quite close and have a history. She opens up about how Buck didn’t have any outward hardships that would’ve led her to believe that he’d take his own life.

And there’s a brief moment of Anna expressing a conflicting thought about that—referencing how people never really know those things—that sinks in a bit, since she comes from a place of someone who quietly struggles herself and tries to hide it a lot.

For that alone, there’s an interesting angle for this case to explore: her personal stakes and experiences can lead to something illuminating or confronting for her.

We learn a bit more about Frieda from this clip, which is already exciting, since she’s been a steady, constant presence in the background without much focus.

She and Buck share a similar artistic edge. As she gets wistful and expresses a near-universal feeling of always thinking she had time before life derailed her plans or dreams a bit, she feels more grounded and relatable than ever.

But the sneak peek delivers more than a deeper insight into Frieda as a character, or even her connection to Buck.

She also gives us a hint as to what could’ve really happened to Buck — and who could’ve actually caused him harm.

And let’s just say that it’s shocking!

The hour will also bring Jeremiah into play, and probably turn it up a notch in all the ways Kim Coates teased.

On his front, it seems he’ll be trying to make a bargain with the thorn in his side that is Anna Pigeon, and what does that entail? Information about a case that’s important to her (maybe her husband’s death?!), and there’s only one thing she has to do to get it.

Stop trying to take down Jeremiah.

Something tells me Anna’s proclivity for defiance means this won’t be easy or straightforward.

And neither will this suicide/murder case.
