Blackbeard is coming to Black Sails.
As we approach the season finale of Black Sails Season 2 this Saturday, Starz has unveiled a key casting announcement:
Ray Stevenson (Rome, Divergent) is stepping into the role of the iconic pirate Blackbeard when Black Sails Season 3 begins airing in early 2016.
According to the network, "one of the most notorious pirates to have ever lived, ‘Edward Teach’ (‘Blackbeard’) returns to settle some unfinished business, but a great deal has changed during his absence, and he will have to disrupt cemented alliances and challenge new ones to achieve the impossible."
Along with the casting news, Starz also released a first look at shooting Season 3, which is currently underway in South Africa. Let's take a look:
Black Sails is created by Jonathan Steinberg and Robert Levine and executive produced by Michael Bay. The series stars Toby Stephens, Hannah New, Zach McGowan, Luke Arnold, Tom Hopper and Jessica Parker Kennedy.
Black Sails Season 2 airs Saturdays at 9/8c on Starz.
