It was another Torres hour, and quite an exciting one.

Torres is lying awake in bed, unable to sleep with the mysterious girl from the bar he hooked up with. She wakes up and tells him that they could have gone for another round if he was having trouble sleeping, and it’s clear from all the scratches all over his body that he’s still indulging in pain and pleasure with her.
He gets a call from Trudy, and she wants him to take some paperwork to the courthouse. He’s on his way there when a van crashes into him at the intersection. He hits his head on the window, and glass is everywhere.
When he gathers himself, he gets out of the car sans service weapon and checks on the driver, who is dead. He also heads around back after piecing together that it was a prison transport, and the other officer is dead as well.
A mysterious prisoner holds a gun to Torres, telling him that the officer is dead and maybe implying that he’s behind everything.
The prisoner claims that the driver started speeding and crashe,d and that something must have been wrong with him. He says he’s injured, and Torres suggests they get medical attention, but the guy doesn’t want to hear it after he hears that Torres is not only a cop but also works for Intelligence.
The prisoner is excited by this and takes Torres hostage as he heads down the street searching for a car to steal. When they bump into a civilian, Torres tells her to run and call the cops. His hostage taker threatens to kill Torres, which doesn’t faze him, but he does simmer down when the guy says he’ll kill innocents.
Apparently, the guy is going to prison for a murder he didn’t commit and wants Torres to help him clear his name. Because, you know, kidnapping a cop will definitely be the solution. I don’t know.
Meanwhile, Trudy receives word that Torres didn’t make it to the courthouse, asks Voight and Atwater if they’ve heard from Torres, and then they all learn about the car crash, the escaped prisoner, and start piecing things together.
At the scene, they hear that the prisoner, Morgan, was accused of killing his wife. He wants to clear his name, as he was a model citizen, and a trial is coming up for his appeal, which is being rejected.
Morgan takes Torres to his brother-in-law’s house, and he holds up his wife at gunpoint, looking for him, since he’s the person who is behind putting him in prison. The wife denies that he’s there and says that her husband left her after what she did to Morgan.
Torres and Morgan tussle, and the gun goes off, shooting into the ceiling, which freaks out the wife. Her son was home. He comes downstairs, and Morgan is in awe seeing how much his nephew has grown.
The wife kicks him out of the house, and he and Torres leave. He gets Torres to drive a car he stole, handcuffed to escape the sirens they’re hearing.
Morgan is still bleeding out from his injury during the car crash, so they head to a convenience store to get supplies. He’s weak, and it’s awkward with the cashier. By the time they get outside by the car, Morgan passes out.
But Torres, bless his heart, doesn’t flag down the police when he hears the sirens or call for help. Nope. He puts Morgan into the car and takes off. Voight and Kim get a lead about them being at the store, and they watch the footage.
Voight is PERPLEXED by Dante’s actions and tells Kim to get rid of the footage.
When Morgan wakes up, he’s with Torres, and he’s cleaned him up, stitched him up, and they talk. Morgan seems as confused as the rest of us about why Torres brought him there instead of taking him in. He knows that Torres believes him.
Torres unties him, and they head upstairs, and Torres is at his church. He asks the priest for access to the computer and looks up information on Carter, Morgan’s brother-in-law, whom he wants to speak to.
They track Carter down and have a brief standoff with him. Torres is serving as a form of street mediator as Morgan wants the truth from Carter. Carter attempts to make a move with the bat, but Torres catches it.
Carter can’t make eye contact with Morgan. Torres clocks it and asks him about it. Morgan also demands the truth, and we learn, through a painful admission, that Carter framed Morgan.
He claims “they” made him do it.
He got a phone call, they threatened his family, and he had to do it. But he’s not the person who killed Morgan’s wife: Voight and the team bust in around this time. Torres goes in the ambulance with Morgan, but he starts coding while in there after Torres promises to work the case, talk to his daughter, and figure out who killed his wife.
Torres does. Meanwhile, they’re arresting Carter, taking him in, but then gunfire breaks out. Someone shoots Carter in the neck, killing him.
They’ve gotten to him before he can talk. Kim updates Torres at the hospital just as he hears that Morgan didn’t make it either. Now, it’s a full-blown conspiracy, and Torres has a spark, determined to figure everything out.
He looks up Morgan’s daughter, heads to her house, talks to her, and tells her that her father was innocent, and he’s going to figure out who is behind all of this. Torres has a renewed sense of purpose.
We don’t have any answers, and a new conspiracy. It’s also another case that we’re no closer to solving. It’s a change for the series.
