There’s only about a week left before Gen V returns for its second season!
The wait since its first season aired two years ago has felt like a lifetime, especially with the open ending.
While waiting for new episodes, fans have had plenty of time to drum up speculation about what Gen V Season 2 might cover.
A central source of interest is how Jordan and Marie’s relationship might progress.
However, there are plenty of other points to consider when thinking about how Gen V might achieve a status as legendary as The Boys.
Here are four things Gen V Season 2 can do to ensure that it goes down in history as one of the best superhero (or rather, anti-superhero) TV shows.
Add More Satirical Moments
The Boys is most well-known for the way it’s made fun of superhero culture.
While Gen V has also done some of that satire, there’s also plenty of room for the show to dive headfirst into the comedy aspect.
This is especially the case since the veil has been lifted from the God U students’ eyes and they finally see the school for the corrupt institution that it is.
From the trailer, it seems like Marie is already being forced to livestream against her will and put on a performance of being “trendy.”
This might be a sign that Gen V is embracing the satire aspect in the new season.
Also, Gen V is arguably a little more emotionally heavy than The Boys in terms of addressing how young people can be molded by trauma, so having satire and comedy to lighten the mood is helpful.
Bring in New Heroes With Memorable Powers
One of the most notable parts of The Boys is how each hero has a distinct power.
This is the case for Gen V, but in the extensive universe of The Boys, it would be wonderful to see more new characters with unique superpowers.
By adding such characters, Gen V could add more entertainment and build out the world of God U extensively.
The best way to do this would be by featuring other students at God U.
The main characters are all incredible, but it would be nice to get a closer look at some other students.
Fight Like They Mean It
The Boys really knows how to make a spectacle out of a fight scene.
Gen V has had its fair share of explosive encounters in its first season, especially in the finale.
So, it would be impressive to see the show up its fight scene game in Season 2 and prove that the students at God U are just as capable of defending themselves as the Seven are.
A good fight scene doesn’t necessarily mean that the characters have to get all bloody, but that certainly has worked well for The Boys.
Sometimes A Villain Era is Necessary
It’s quite easy to point to any character in The Boys and prove how they’ve slowly become worse people or revealed their true colors over time.
In comparison, the main characters of Gen V haven’t seemed as corrupt as The Boys, likely because they’re all pretty young and earlier on in their careers in comparison.
However, slow moral downward spirals are really fascinating to watch.
Marie has definitely already experienced that to some extent during her skyrocket to fame, but it would be so cool to see the show really lean into that darker side and show how her rise to the top is also associated with corruption.
