Are you ready for Gotham? Ready to witness the origins of Batman and more?
We’ve got five things you should know about the pilot that’ll have you prepared for Gotham Season 1 Episode 1 when it premieres at 8 p.m. Sept. 22 on Fox.
Bruce Wayne’s parents die. Again. For Bruce Wayne, this one doesn’t get any easier in any iteration of his legendary saga. And this time, it connects the future Batman with Jim Gordon, who is spurred into finding the killer. Let’s just say there’s an intense moment (and one that looks almost out of the Batman: Year One comic pages) to watch out for from actor David Mazouz as the young Bruce.
(FOX) Not Michael Caine’s Alfred We all love Michael Caine. We all love Michael Caine’s Alfred in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. But actor Sean Pertwee gives us a tougher, more military presence in his role as Master Bruce’s guardian. It’s a different take, but a good one at that.
(FOX) Jim Gordon doesn’t have a mustache Just like Batman has a cowl and Superman has a cape, Jim Gordon has a mustache. But he’s not yet commissioner so that hair above his upper lip is noticeably absent. But let’s give it time. Perhaps he dons it in one of the last shots of the series?
(FOX) Fish Mooney is a brand new character With Gotham comes the Batman mythology, but Jada Pinkett Smith is a brand new addition to the universe. And she may just help spur another character on a crash course towards becoming a future Batman villain.
(FOX) Future Batman villains galore Speaking of baddies. They, and many nods to the Batman world, are throughout the pilot. Think you can spot them all? Better tune in 8 p.m. Sept. 22 on Fox to find out.
