Rachel Lindsay finally made her debut as ABC’s latest Bachelorette, and the premiere episode did not disappoint. Sparks were flying, alcohol was flowing and our new lead looked as beautiful as ever.
She met 31 different men, and already confirmed that she is engaged to one of them, which isn’t surprising considering how happy she seemed during the episode. (There was even a kiss or two!)
However, this is the Bachelor franchise, so not everything went smoothly. There was a little bit of drama, a blast from the past and a whole lot of crazy (Whaboom!).
From Adam Jr. to the first impression rose, here’s a closer look at the most memorable moments from Rachel’s first episode of The Bachelorette. If I forgot your favorite part of the premiere, let me know in the comments below.
A Girl’s Best Friend
The current number one man in Rachel’s life is her dog, Copper. The pup got a lot of love on social media and stood out because normally the leads are not allowed to bring their dog with them on their “journey to find love.” (I’m sure dog lover from Juan Pablo’s season was also thrilled by Copper’s appearance).
The Tickle Monster
Rachel proved how sweet she really was when she didn’t attack Jonathan, aka the Tickle Monster, when he tickled her after he got out of the limo. The moment was bizarre and creepy, but also unforgettable.
Whaboom!
There’s always a token “crazy” contestant on The Bachelorette, but Lucas and his constant screaming made me think he is actually nuts (and it’s not just the editing.) By the end of the episode, he was just plain annoying, but at least you can add “drink every time Lucas says ‘Whaboom’” to your Bachelorette drinking game rules.
Penguin Man
I think Dolphin/Shark girl (Alexis from Nick’s season) still holds the title for best costume in the Bachelor franchise, but Matt aka the dude in the penguin suit made a lasting impression.
Blast From The Past
One of the most surprising moments from the premiere was when Fred revealed he went to the same grade school as Rachel. He brought his 3rd grade yearbook (Rachel was in 8th grade at the time) and we found out she used to be his camp counselor!
Adam Jr.
In a creepy turn of events, Adam brought his doll (Adam Jr… AJ for short) with him to the Bachelor mansion. As much as we wish we could forget about AJ, the editors made sure he would haunt our dreams with his fake french accent.
Little Drummer Boy
Blake E., who’s occupation is “aspiring drummer,” made a memorable appearance when he arrived with a band behind him. It made all of the other guys totally jealous, and hopefully made Rachel forget he was technically unemployed.
The First Kiss
Bryan wasted no time getting to know Rachel, and was the first (and only!) guy to go in for the kiss. The chemistry between the two of them was definitely there and for a spilt second, it was like they forgot about the cameras (and the 30 other men).
Drunk Mo
Bollywood dancer Mohit didn’t say much during the premiere, but he left his mark on the audience when he got drunk and was the only person to see Bryan and Rachel kiss. His reaction was pretty great, and I was sad to see him go.
The First Impression Rose
Speaking of Bryan, he was the lucky recipient of the first impression rose. It’s safe to say he will probably make it to hometowns, and could even be our next Bachelor.
No Rose For AJ
Even though Adam got a rose during the rose ceremony, Adam Jr. did not. It was nice to see Rachel is also creeped out by AJ, and funny to watch her tell Adam not to bring him up when he accepted his rose.
The Final Rose
Despite eligible Bachelors like Blake K. not receiving a rose yet, Rachel gave her last rose of the night to Whaboom (Lucas). I assume the producers made her keep him around for the entertainment factor, but either way, it was a little surprising to see him collect the final rose of the night.
This Season on The Bachelorette…
The preview for the rest of the season of The Bachelorette might have been the most shocking part of the episode. From someone’s girlfriend (pictured below) crashing the show to expose him to finding out Lee – the singer! – is actually the villain of the season, there will certainly not be a lack of drama.
