The Pearsons may have considered themselves s a family since the moment they decided to adopt but unfortunately, that didn’t make it legal.
This Is Us Season 2 Episode 7 takes us back to when the Big Three were just toddlers circa 1981/82.
During those years, adopting a black child into a white family wasn’t so black and white.
Rebecca and Jack fought against “the norm” to make their family official, and if you watch This Is Us online, you know the outcome was successful. Still, it’ll be interesting to see them put up a fight for their son.

Adoption is a very personal and emotional matter, but we cannot forget it is also a legal process. Unfortunately, it isn’t enough to just want a child, you have to prove that you’re fit enough to raise him/her and that your home is adequate enough. We’ll finally get to see Rebecca and Jack go through Randall’s adoption process!
