Spencer's drug problem gets worse as she's found passed out on Ezra's desk at school with no recollection of how she got there.
As the girls prepare to tell Aria about Ezra, Ezra decides to make her seem less credible by revealing her past problems with amphetamines to Aria. Emily, Hanna, and Aria confront Spencer about her drug abuse; however, Emily and Hanna are still convinced by the evidence against Ezra and try to set up a trap for him. It doesn't work, and Spencer's parents find out about her drug use.
Meanwhile, Aria gets suspicious of Ezra and visits his cabin. The A-lair in the basement is gone, but she finds a manuscript about Alison. The two have a confrontation in which Ezra reveals that he did know Alison before her death, and he knew who Aria was when they met. He also tries to get rid of the manuscript to keep Aria from reading it.
