[Betty walks to Evelyn and presses her to a locker]
Betty: Let me make something very clear. You and your dad may have brainwashed my mom, but I see right through your enlightened Farm-y c***. So, stop messing with me, stop messing with my family, and stop messing with my friends. Better yet, don’t even think about coming near me and my mom ever again.
[Evelyn tries to break free, but Betty pushes her back and presses her arm to Evelyn’s neck]
Betty: Because if you do, Evelyn, I will kill you. And if you don’t believe me, ask around. People will tell you what I’m capable of.
[Betty walks away, Evelyn looks scared]
Betty: The past is part of who you are. You’re Alice Cooper! You bought a house on Elm Street. You painted our door red.
Alice: I lived with a murderer in that house!
Betty: You raised me and Polly in it too! Bad things happen, but you can’t get rid of your past because then you’d lose the good parts too.
Alice: There’s been so much pain.
Betty: I know, I know. But, that’s what makes us stronger. Edgar doesn’t see that.
Betty: I know what you’re up to.
Evelyn: Lowering Sweet Pea’s solo?
Betty: Cute. This entire musical is just one big recruitment drive for you, isn’t it?
Evelyn: I’m sorry, I don’t follow.
Betty: The Farm is sponsoring the play. You strong-armed your way into co-directing, your warm up sermons, exercising trauma through art … screams cult recruitment!
[Evelyn places her hand on Betty’s hand. Betty glares at her]
Evelyn: Betty, dissect these trust issues.
[Evelyn pulls her hand back]
Evelyn: The Farm is producing and I’m co-directing for one simple reason: to have BIG FUN.
Betty: Arch, are you and Josie dating?
Archie: Well, I mean…
Reggie: Did you know about this?
Veronica: What? No, I had no idea.
Reggie: The fact that your ex boo has a new girlfriend has nothing to do with you suddenly being all in with me?
Evelyn: Veronica, do you have something to share?
Veronica: I just found out that my parents are separating. My family is unconventional, to say the least, but I always thought no matter they’d stay together.
[Betty moves to comfort Veronica]
Evelyn: And that is what in the theater we call a “breakthrough.”
Kevin: Betty, last night was scary and fun ... cathartic. It felt euphoric like nothing I’ve ever felt.
Betty: That’s your point of view. I think my readers and your dad will have a different one.
Evelyn: You’re not publishing that article, Betty.
Evelyn: Tell her why Kevin.
Kevin: If you do, we’ll tell everyone about the shady man your mom killed in the kitchen, and how you and Jughead dumped his car in Swedlow Swamp. And how Mr. Jones dissolved his body with lye in the woods.

[Evelyn and Kevin leave. Betty slams her laptop shut]
Alice: First off, I’d like to say this is a wonderful place to raise a family. Many a fort were built by my two girls in this very room.
Betty: And bonus, it’s also where my serial killer father showed us creepy snuff films.
Alice: [She laughs] Elizabeth! Shouldn’t you be at school?
[Alice changes topics]
Alice: We have wonderful schools in this district. Oh, I see that you eying the fireplace, which is original to this house.
Betty: Yes, which comes with accessories, like the shovel, which my mother used to knock out my father, the notorious serial killer, “The Black Hood.”
Alice: It’s true, you can Google it. But make sure you look up “Alice Cooper” and not “Alice Smith.” It’s all there. Or try “Murder House on Elm Street.” That’s this house.
Evelyn: Your mother is on the verge of discovering something that some people spend their whole lives looking for and never find. There’s no need to be afraid or to stand in the way of that.
Betty: Umm, there is if she’s going to get hurt!
Polly: This is just like Edgar said. You’re a “detractor.” I’m not going to let you ruin this day for Mom.
Betty: Fine, but if Mom dies, her blood is on your hands, Polly.
Jughead: No rest for the wicked.
Betty: Not in a wicked town.
Betty: No one else understands what she’s capable of. No one but you. She just gave my money away, Dad. Mom gave all my money. Like my education meant ... nothing.
Hal: It means everything. And I’m sorry, Betty. But here’s the good news. Betty, you’re gonna have colleges lining up to give you scholarships. Weren’t the SATs this weekend?
[Betty slowly nods]
Hal: How did you do?
Betty: Pretty good, I think.
Archie: I don’t want to do this. I don’t want to play with you guys.
Veronica: You have to. It’s the only way back.
Archie: Back to what?
Betty: Eldirvare. Riverdale. Innocence.
Betty: Ethel, I’m back.
[Betty opens the chapel doors]
Betty: Are you okay?
Ethel: I don’t understand. It’s just a statue. But I saw him.
[Betty sits down in front of Ethel]
Betty: We all did because we were high on Fizzle Rocks. The Sisters feed us drugs that make us susceptible to visions they suggest. They let us play the game and then they use our delusions of the Gargoyle King to scare us into submission.
Sister Woodhouse: The children who come through our doors are broken. It’s our sacred mission to fix them using whatever tools necessary.
Betty: Does that mean the Sisters created Gryphons and Gargoyles? As a tool?
Sister Woodhouse: Misbehaving children have been brought down to this room since the asylum opened. That statue scared them into submission. Some of them, the more disturbed ones, created a fantasy realm ... a game ... to cope with the fear of the one they named, “The Gargoyle King.” We embraced it as a therapeutic tool and it worked because it embeds itself in the minds of the players. It makes them complacent, focuses them.
Betty: If that’s true, then how did the game get out into the world? Did you give it to Hiram?
Sister Woodhouse: It was never meant to leave these walls. It’s too powerful. A game born of madness.
Ethel: A madness you helped nurture. And now people like Ben and Dilton are dead.
