Recap

Coulson tells Director Mace that they need Yo-Yo, Daisy and Robbie to capture Eli. He also reveals that Aida is an android. Director Mace wants Aida's help on the mission, but he also wants to dismantle her when it is over.

Coulson voices his suspicions about Director Mace and Senator Nadeer to May before joining Mack and Robbie on the scene. Robbie, Yo-Yo and Daisy prepare to enter Eli's stronghold. Yo-Yo uses her powers to get inside, but is blown out of the building by a massive fire. Undeterred, Robbie heads in to confront Eli.

When asked about Aida, Radcliffe tells Director Mace that he created her to save agents' lives in the field. Director Mace wants to know more about how reading the Darkhold helped Aida build the portal that saved Coulson and Fitz.

Robbie fights through Eli's henchmen to discover that Eli has built a giant battery containing quantum energy. He starts to transform into Ghost Rider, but Eli creates a carbon spike and plunges it into his Robbie's chest. Simmons and Fitz tell the team that Eli's battery also operates as a fail-safe; if anyone messes with it, the plutonium inside will explode. Robbie explains to Eli how he became Ghost Rider.

Director Mace wants Yo-Yo to use her powers to steal the plutonium at the heart of Eli's fail-safe. Mack is furious, but Yo-Yo claims she is fine to back into the field. Fitz and Simmons tell Daisy that they don't trust Director Mace because of his secret work with Senator Nadeer.

Coulson and Daisy confront Director Mace about Senator Nadeer and the Inhuman she is holding prisoner. Director Mace tells them he's only doing it to protect S.H.I.E.L.D.

Coulson tells Eli that the quantum energy he used to create the dagger is creating dimensional rifts and quakes. Aida works on creating a magnet to pin Eli down while Daisy tries to suppress the quakes created by Eli's powers. Coulson realizes that the bomb Eli created is not a fail-safe, but an end-game.

The rest of the S.H.I.E.L.D. team, including May and Director Mace, spring into action. Yo-Yo pulls the dagger from Robbie's chest and he transforms into Ghost Rider. Robbie pulls Eli into the fail-safe with him and the two of them disappear in a burst of fire. During the attack, Aida is injured.

Daisy is traumatized from suppressing the quakes and runs outside, only to be confronted by a mass of reporters. Director Mace comes to her defense and tells the reporters she saved them all.

Coulson reveals that Robbie was not the first Ghost Rider. Mack wants to tell Yo-Yo about his experience as Ghost Rider, but Yo-Yo is angry about his mixed signals. Mack stops her from arguing by kissing her.

The reunited S.H.I.E.L.D. team get together to watch the news. Simmons presents Daisy with an official lanyard to commemorate her rejoining S.H.I.E.L.D. as an agent. Director Mace tells Radcliffe that from now on, his Life Model Decoy research will take place at S.H.I.E.L.D.

Aida breaks Nathanson's neck. She starts to tend to the wounds of an unconscious May – except there also happens to be another May having a drink with Coulson.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 Episode 8 Quotes

Coulson: When this is over, it's time. We're cracking that bottle.
May: You won't have to twist my arm.
Coulson: I wouldn't dare. You'd whip my ass.

I don't like magic. Or clowns. Clowns with knives and magic. In the dark.
