They can't track the bus or the passengers. And the guy who made a cash payment with no photo is who likely is the perp.

Hollis deals with the families of the missing victims. Nikki sets up a room instead so they can all be with each other and get updates as they come.

They found Baxter, a kid who skipped the field trip. They speak to him and hope to get information from him on how they can track any of the kids down or reach out to them.

Baxter leads them to Mr. Person's daughter's finsta. Kemi needs someone to hack the cloud and Nikki pressures Jay to get a hacker. He knows Wayne will do it.

Wayne is pissed off that Jay left her in Afghanistan and didn't help her out during her sentencing when she was hacking and helping him out. She's wearing an ankle monitor and doesn't have access to computers or tech.

They appear to have almost a big brother/little sister vibe.

Nikki is shocked to learn that Wayne is a woman.

John Moritz is a career criminal who is holding them hostage for money.

Nikki informs the families about the ransom. She promises to get their kids back.

Jay and Mike speak to John Moritz who is in prison since the hijackers are demanding he be released. He's a famous fixer.

Things escalate on the bus

Jay bugged Mortiz's lawyer's briefcase because he hopes he'll get information about the kids.

Nikki asks Jay about Wayne and why he didn't tell her about her being a woman. He explains how Wayne was there for him when he got the news about Keith and flew with him to Philly and went right back but didn't want him to be alone.

Mike also tries to get more information about Wayne and Jay's relationship with her under the guise of it being an issue that a criminal hacker has access.

Mike and Jay go to the lawyer's house and find a phone that was a burner. Jay leaves a message on the burner phone.

Jay and Mike break into the building that they get a lead on instead of waiting for SWA and find the bus inside the garage, but it's empty except for the dead hostage taker.

They get more footage and because they didn't meet their deadline, the new hostage taker kills the bus driver.

Wayne is accessing the lawyer's phone even though whatever she finds will be off the books.

Kemi and C figure out from a chain in the footage moving that the freight car the kids are in is next to a moving train, and they're able to isolate location through that.

Jay and Mike are able to get to the kids in time before the one guy shoots Kayla.

They go to arrest Moritz took but his car blows up.

The kids are returned to their parents.

They do a press conference on it.

Alert: Missing Persons Unit Season 2 Episode 1 Quotes

Nikki: You never mentioned Wayne is a woman.
Wayne: My parents had a sense of humor.

Hollis: MPU's closure rate is truly excellent. Truly stellar. But the Jason Grant situation, I know, you two have history, but he's a lawsuit waiting to happen, shooting at parked cars, turning the video off during interrogation.
Nikki: Detective Grant is also the best cop in Philly; my team all of us we focus on getting the job done.
Hollis: You want to explain how eggs play into that?
Nikki: One of my people is a shaman.
Hollis: One of my dogs likes to eat its own crap if I let him, but I don't because I know better. The thing is, you tick all my boxes, Nikki. I have many, so if you're not quite in control of your team, we'll get you there. Don't worry; I'm a world-class expert in making problems go away.
