Recap

Lola arrives for her first day as judge, but she trips heading into her first case.

Things take a turn when a young woman appears in the courtroom with no pants, leading to Lola complaining.

A gun is brought out in the courtroom and a gunshot rings out.

A security for the court realizes that the detective has doctored the pictures and turns to Emily for answers.

Upon investigating, it checks out. There's something off with the photos.

Lola takes a look into it and makes the plaintiff admit that she is there because she thinks she did something wrong.

The woman later admits that she did not do anything.

It transpires that the woman in question who went into the house was her mother.

The detective said she was using it all as a thinly veiled attempt to move up the career ladder.

Lola chastizes the woman, telling her that if she ever pulls anything like that again, there will be big trouble.

Mark is told that his father is in a bar and goes to meet him. But he lets his fists do the talking and Lola watches him getting thrown out of the place.

UH-OH.

All Rise Season 1 Episode 1 Quotes

Mark: Your honor? Your Honor? Lola? I know you're up here. Why does it always have to be the top floor?
Lola: Because I don't want anyone to find me.
Mark: I told you to be sphinx-like.
Lola: I can't talk about my case.
Mark: It's okay. Lots of other people are.
Lola: Thanks a lot.
Mark: The sphinx has survived for 4500 years by silently staring down the enemy and then asking the right questions.
Lola: She wasn't dealing with LAPD and... I can't talk about it. It's just that... up on that bench, in this thing, everything is different. And that detective, I need to make a difference, but I can't tell if this is the battle, or this is the war.
Mark: What can I do?
Lola: Visit me at traffic court in Palmdale.
Mark: Never gonna happen.

Sherri: Your honor?
Lola: This is a big moment for me. I just want to be present for it.
