Blue Bloods Season 11 Episode 3 revolves around Joe's struggle with his family identity.

After Joe learns that his birth certificate is about to be made public, he seems to be fine with it. But Frank admits to his staff that he doesn't know his grandson well enough to know whether he's okay or not.

Later, Joe shows up at the Reagans' with a black eye. He got into a fight with some other cops who felt betrayed by him and made fun of the Reagans. He won't say who the other cops were, just that they treated him like a fox in a henhouse.

Joe is due at Christmas dinner, but he shows up the day before with food he bought at an Italian place in Glen Cove. He is overwhelmed and has a lot to think about. He is leaving town for a while. He may or may not show up at dinner to meet Nicky and Jack.

Meanwhile, Jamie and Danny clash constantly after a girl whose case Jamie ignored goes to Danny and Jamie reports himself for not doing his job. Danny wants to secretly work the case even though his boss took him off it, but Jamie wants to play by the rules.

And elsewhere, Erin and Anthony investigate a mob member after someone leaves evidence in a gift box for them.
