Blue Bloods Season 12 Episode 14 revolves around the question of when to bend the law.

When Frank is called to a shooting at an officer's home, he quickly realizes he's not getting the whole story. With some minimal digging, Sid uncovers the fact that the officer's son is associated with a gang. Frank wonders whether he should go by the book and discipline the officer for not disclosing this or bend the rules so he doesn't lose yet another good cop.

Meanwhile, Joe overhears his the woman he hooked up with, who is a lawyer, tell a witness not to come to town and to skip court. He reports this witness tampering to Anthony, but Erin says she can't use it because it's privileged. Later, when Joe gets some printouts of texts from Deanna, Erin says she can't use that either. However, Deanna is now missing and Joe and Anthony think she may be in danger so Erin reluctantly agrees to investigate.

Elsewhere, Eddie admits to Jamie that she doesn't want to be a sergeant after all, while Baez insists that she and Danny look into the death of a Latina talk show host that Baez admired.
