Ray comes to see Frank. He asks if this is about his son. He quotes the relevant police code that he broke to Frank but says that there's nothing in there about fathers and sons. Frank doesn't buy that. Vincent is an adult and makes his own choices.  He says he's sorry for where they find themselves. He doesn't want to lose Ray but Vincent lives with him and has access to his weapon. Ray says that he locks up his weapon at home. Should he turn his back on his son because he's an addict? Frank thinks Vincent is responsible for Ray getting shot. Ray says it's his own fault because he spent too much time on the job and not with his son growing up. He asks Frank what he would do if it was one of his boys.

He made this rule when he became PC because it wasn't fair that his relative put his partner's life at risk.
