Castle comes back to the 12th precinct but Beckett tells Lanie she feels as though there's a shadow between them. After an interviewer ambushes Castle on air about the possibility of his disappearance being nothing more than a publicity stunt, he offers a $250,000 reward for any information leading to answers about the time he was missing.
A newlywed couple comes forward with pictures from their honeymoon in Montreal. In the background is Castle and Henry Jenkins. With Beckett working on a case, Castle and Alexis head to Montreal and use his key to open a safe deposit box at the bank in the photo. There are three envelopes with memory cards for Kate, Martha, and Alexis. On them is a recording of Castle saying how much he loves them and that if they see this he's probably dead.
When Tori gets an address off the video, Castle heads back to Montreal alone and runs into Jenkins who tells him he asked to forget everything and go back to his life. As proof, he reminds Rick of Hollander's Woods on a day in February when he was 11 years old. It's the reason he became a mystery writer and he never told anyone.
Back in New York, Beckett and the boys investigate the death of a toy company CEO who went undercover to figure out who was smuggling drugs through his warehouse. His assistant was the one behind him and killed him.
Rick wants to get married but Kate feels they need to be on solid ground. She says they should give it a month before getting married. Castle says it's a date.
